use a d16z6 or d16y8 head

p28 ecu but you'd have to go obd1, or you can use your stock ecu and run either an afc or some other switch to activate vtec.

also the d16y8 IM is the best one for d-series.

something else: if you plan to stay obd1 try to get a d16y8 head because your obd0 dizzy will bolt right up to it.

You were sooo close to being 100% right. I would avoid the AFC hack completely. I would use a z6 head with a p28 ecu. Or you can use the Y8 head, that will give you a higher compression though. Yes, the y8 IM is the best. Go obd-1 regardless if you use the Y8 or Z6 head and run it with a p28. Also, you can't run a obd-0 dizzy on a obd1 ecu. It jsut doesn't work.
