Notchy Transmission, with NEW MOTOR and TRANNY olny in for 4 days
Before i begin i searched: transmission, tranny, cable transmission, cable, notchy, etc
now i just got a new motor and tranny and it has the same symptoms as my last tranny, i was runnin down the track and my tranny(M2B4 LSD only on the car for 3 months) started to feel notchy, well i TRYed shifting from 3rd at 7250 to 4th but went into second rev over 9k. long story short i NOW have another motor and tranny, BUT that didn't fix the problem it's has a fairly new clutch in it only about 8 months or so on it. when they swapped the motor they took the clutch out and said it looked like it had about another year on it. so what could it be since it has the SAME exact symptoms as my other tranny and this is a new motor and tranny and i have only had it in four 4 days. another thing that sucks i gave my LSD tranny and JDM motor to the guy that i bought mine off of which means since im still having the same tranny trouble that i prolly gave away a good M2B4

P.S. Symptoms =
-Notchy
-stiff and hard to go into ALL gears(mainly when moving)
-no grinds
-the new noise is a loud grinding/ spining sound when the clutch is pushed in BUT only when it's reved high about 5k and higher( also this noise came 2 days after installing the new motor and tranny finding that the tranny was almost a quart low they never filled it all the way up)< could somthing have gotton fried?

i doubt anything got fried, but being low on MTF is certainly a bad idea
sounds to me like your throwout bearing is bad, that should be the noise when you push the clutch in, also, just get a new disc while youre in there....$200 for a new one would have saved all this headache....dropping a trans is not fun....

well you have problems now, and you know its not the trans bc you have tried two....if it doesnt wanna shift that doesnt necessarily mean that the disc is bad
you may want to try bleeding the clutch system.....it could just be that its not fully disengaging the clutch when you push the pedal down....

could it be possible to get air in there in hard driving conditions? another thing i had a honda dealership replace the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder like a month b4 the tranyn acted up on my last motor. you think mayeb the honda guys could have messed up in bleeding it?.....hmm possible no one is perfect

i do beleive i foudn the problem as i pulled up to a stop light last night and pushed in the clutch i heard this hollow tingy noise mainl b/c i have the throbbing idle problem and every time it woudl rev it would hear the noise but as soon as i let ouy on my clutch it stopped...........push in and i would hear it...out and it would stop THROW OUT BEARING......so im going to try that if that doesn't fix it i im replacing the whole cable/linkage from the shifter to the tranny...

it's your TOB or the springs in your clutch.
basically something in the clutch is rubbing against the FW, either b/c of hydraulics or a material failure.
bleed the clutch, see if that helps, otherwise, pull the tranny and inspect the clutch.

well thanks guys im prolly gonna pull the tranny next week when i get the time and most likely going to order ANOTHER clutch, preasure plate, and flywheel obvioulsy it comes w/ a TOB anyways since i took out this clutch in 8 months, it is a lil wore and a few hot spots on the flywheel but i don't feel like risking JUST replacing the TOB and then the rest of the clutch be shot so im just going to do it all anyone have a good suggestion on what set up i should get?
just to update on what it was....Shift cables! when i pulled the old ones the short one that goes on the left was bent....thanks alot just figured i would finish this thread so when somone seaches they can find it
Right now i am getting a surging at stop with gear in and clutch floored. also mainly every gear is grinding and hard to get into gear. Is this a clutch thing or a hydrolic thing, this just happened on the way home from school and i diddnt smell clutch
The surging usualy relates to Fast idle Thermo valve,Idle Air control, sometimes it can be an 02 sensor or a vacuum line poped off.....the grinding i woul dcheck the tranny fluid 1st, then, it could also be yout through out bearing or clutch, last synchros, try draining the fluid and putting freah Penzoil or GM synchromes in there same thing just GM you have to get at the dealer
