i've had a 2 10" bandbass box before. sounded good. then i got a sealed box and it sounded cleaner. now i'm going for 1 10". so i now i'm wondering bout the vented box, the ones with the long rectangular port. so now i'm wondering which one would be better vented or sealed?

my buddy has a ported box in his 95 talon. sounds great. sealed is good for cars with trunks, like a civic coupe. vented would work alright too, but id go with ported if u can, if not, vented.

i though it was the other way around. sealed for hatch and ported for trunks. the vented is suppost to make the bass deeper..

Sealed and ported boxes can go into any car. It does not make a diffrence. Ported boxes play more acurate and ported or vented play about 3 db louder then a sealed and give you more spl. Now if you have a trunck like a civic or accord do something like this, I built this for my sister car.

Its a bandpass thats ported into the car, Whats good about this is that there is no trunk rattel. The bass is injected into the car. Down side is that it will blow the rear window out. Only when tuned for max spl. And you don't need alot of power. so it helps stay low budget. But on some songs it lacks real low end. Don't get it twisted. it can go low but not like a sealed box. If I was you go with a sealed. It will save you space. and knock because it a hatch. Hatches have great cabin gain. If not get the ported and have greater spl. Also remember sealed boxes require more power to opperate then a ported. a ported can uses less power then a sealed box to work.

It matters what kinda music you listen to. If you listen to a lot of rap/hip-hop go with the ported box, if you listen to rock or other stuff go with the sealed box. would diffently go with the JL audio W6 it will sound good in a sealed or ported box. I would go with the sealed, you don't need the extra output that a ported would give you. Just make sure that whatever box you get it's built spec for the sub it will make all the difference, if you go with the wrong size ported box it can make the sub sound real bad and might cause possible damage to the sub. The right size box makes the sub

Take off the license plate, get some plyers and a rag, bend the mounting holes so that the plate will sit tight against the car, reinstall.
