Default really stupid question bout rotating tires

how often are u suppose to rotate ur tires? also how do u guys go about doin so? cuz i only have 2 jack stands and a really wak jack that doesnt lift the back high enough off the ground to take the wheels off. ( if i do need to take off a rear wheel i gotta lift it from the side lifting point not the rear) is it possible to lift one whole side of the car and just switch the front and the rear wheels? ive never done this b4. like i said it was a stupid question but i really need to and dont want to pay someone to do something so simple.
TIA

General rule of thumb is about every 5K miles, or every other oil change if you don't go too long between oil changes. I suggest buying another pair of jackstands. You can get a nice pair for under $20. However if you loosen the lug nuts while the car is still on the ground, you could just use the jack. If I place my floorjack under the front left jack point and raise it, I can get both left side wheels to come off the ground. Just don't take too long to swap the tires front to back, and you should be fine.

If you have directional tires like mine, then you can only move them from front to back and vice versa. So I use tow jacks on the side jack points and then switch the tires, then I go do the other side.

Yeah, it is pretty simple but I would get a lifetime rotation and balance. It's only like $8 or $9 a tire. The only reason I would do that is because they also balance your tires for you unless you have one of those machines sitting in your garage. I don't. Just letting you know what I think and what I do.
