CRX SI sway bar on HF??
I have a 1989 CRX HF and i did a rear disk brake conversion. The rear brakes were off of a 1991 CRX SI. The brakes came with a rear sway bar and I dont know how it goes on. It doesnt bolt up to anything on the underbody of the car. Does anyone know how to put it on??

Do a search there is a write-up on welding in the brakets for a rear bar on a DX. If wasn't so lazy I would snap pics of mine that I welded in, works just great!
you can use it no problem if you use the Si or 90-93 integra lower control arms, i put a '91 integra rear sway bar on my '91 hf this past weekend, used the teg bar, frame mounts and lower arms, all should be fine with the Si stuff as well. swap the lower arms then mark in the frame where to drill holes for the frame brackets if your factory holes don't line up (mine did'nt) then i just make small access holes in the trunk floor to drop down some 3/8 grade 8 bolts and washers and bolted them up. works great, awsome upgrade for the car.

so did you happen to notice the lower control arms are completely different than the regular civic bars? im curious what the effect was to your shocks, or if you even noticed it. howd you even get past not having threaded holes?
to the OP, the problem is the chassis doesnt have the threaded holes to accept the Si swaybar bracket. like someone mentioned, someone welded an adaptor to the stock brackets to make it work right. or you can drill a big hole in the trunk area to nut the other side.

yes i noticed the lower arms are different, the strut mount for the teg arm is about 1/2" or so more inward on the arm than it is on the Hf ones but eye to eye the arms are exact same length, as for how i mounted the brackets to the frame i already explained that in my post, drilled small holes in the truck (1/2"x2") not large ones, just enough to drop bolts into and get a socket in there

The disk brakes came off of an SI, I got the lower control arms and everything off of an SI, the brackets are there for the sway bar but there are no mounting holes on the underbody of the car.
like i said just drill a couple holes and bolt the thing up, i mounted my integra one, after measuring, test fitting, drilling holes, etc... in about an hour, it was cake. don't worry about people saying don't drill holes in the trunk, theres nothing wrong with doing it the holes will be so small it will not make any difference and its not like your drilling into a structural part of the car, its a freaken floor pan for christ sake. mount it up you won't regret it
sorry, i missed you saying you drilled the access holes. my bad.

there are rear tow hooks that mount to threaded holes you use to mount the ST brackets. all crx's have those.

awesome. emailed.
for curiosity's sake, and since i'm now forced to figure this out again-
anyone confirm reports of the si brackes tearing out when used with a larger diameter bar? i'm (without being under the car, so feel free to correct me) going to assume that the tow hook mount holes are stronger points than the oem si bar points.

take a look under your car. the tow hook and swaybar bracket links are both along the frame.
i use the mugen 22mm in the stock brackets with stock springs. no problems.

the car is a couple hours from here, so thanks for answerng the sophmoric question. i heard someone talking about tearouts on the ef chassis somewhere in the suspension forum last week (something i've never encountered) and i got to thinking a little too hard.

they were talking about the oem swaybar brackets tearing out of the floorpan/framerail with a big swaybar.
i'd never heard this, but i've also been running the progress bar for the last 9 years, which mounts to the subframe like later cars. that's why i'm not so versed in running bigger bars in the oem location (or even remembering what it looks like
)

personally, id be more worried about tearing out your subframe with your progress bar than the frame rail with a normal swaybar setup.
but you already knew my opinion....

i'm not planning to repurchase, but you knew that too
. i do have to say that i did never have any problems with it. i never ran it on anything softer than progress springs (that was a while ago) and later gc's, but 9 years is saying something.
