Forbidden Short Shifter
Bump this question up.
I have a question of my own. IF i use a Prelude shift plate, does it solve all console problems the accord has with a 4bidden shifter? Does the prelude shift plate bolt right into a 4th gen accord?

yeah the prelude plate does work with the 4th gen. you just have to use the cable that are for that plate. be i already have the cb7 shifter base w/cables therefore mine app. would not fit the same as a 94-97 accord or 92-96 lude base.

leave the stock one, lol. i can't even really drive a stick. i haven't done my swap yet for one. it not just a short stick. it gives like 50% less throw. better response. quicker shifts. now you can throw in appearance last. forbidden and prospec are the only two true short shifters that work from what i have researched. many h22 owners have stated that it is the best mod they have made.

I thought prelude/accord cables (for the 90-93 accord, 92-96 lude) are the same? My plan is to use a prelude shift plate with my stock cables and a 4bidden shifter. If you use a stock accord plate, then the shift cables will rub against the console and rip it apart.

I have read a ton of positive reviews on this shifter, but does anyone have anything negative to say about it?
Any horror stories?
I also know that PSPEC makes one for the 4th gen, is there anything about it that is better than the Forbidden?
Maybe everyone could list PROs and CONs of each! Only first hand experience please.
Thanks

I was just reading up on the shifter at another site, and I read about a guy who had to trim a small amount off his console or his shifter rod rubbed. Also I read about clearance issues while trying to get into 5th or reverse or something (can't recall). Has anyone else heard of these issues?
yep, nothing new. straight from the installation link on Forbidden's website...

Now when u try to put the center console back on you realize that in 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears the center console will pop up slightly because the shifter is hitting it. Proceed to trim the plastic that holds the shift boot on underneath the center console.(You are going to want to trim it as far down as directly underneath the three staples. Do not worry, your shiftboot is still very secure without these staples)

I think that was on a 4th Gen Prelude. Also, I'm not positive but I think the hitting is mainly an issue when you have the cables connected to the highest (shortest shift) location. Like I said, I'm not sure but thats what I think I remember hearing before.

no i didn't get one yet. my ride is out of commission for the moment plus i have yet to do my 5 spd swap. i was thinking i wanna try the stock shifter first so i will be able to feel the difference. i am just doing my homework.
i just put in a stock 92-96 prelude shifter in my accord, best $20 bucks ive spent on my car.
stock lude shifter isnt much longer than the pspec and if i wanted, i could make my own bracket to shorten the throw w/ like $5 in parts from home depot and it would look just like the forbidden shifter.
