Using a luggage carrier, those bags are 70 pounds each. This is the picture that my avatar was taken from.

The rack (feet and cross bars) look nice on the car and have locks to prevent theft, but they whistle when I drive. This whistling can supposedly be prevented by using a fairing (sort of an air ramp in front of the front bar), but I don't have one. The whistling, plus the fact that I only use it two or three times per year, is why I only put it on when I know I'll need it.
Takes maybe 5 minutes or so to put it on or take it off.
Of course Yakima is another major brand of roof racks, but I like my Thule.
