Default pics of my in-progress EF turbo setup...built SOHC

so i'm actually building a nice manifold, instead of my junky DRAG thinger i've had.

it places the turbo so that the compressor outlet aims DIRECTly into the intercooler. (in the pic, the turbo isnt tightened down, and is also just my "mock up turbo"-my real turbo doesnt have the bolt on flanges anymore. )

i made a new intercooler/radiator support, and also am using a THICK griffin core radiator, modified for honda outlet size. its shorter and narrower than a stock ef rad, but THICK. it will basically fit under the hood latch area.

i'm really happy with how the setup is coming out...

thanks to Cody from Lovefab for his answers to my questions over the last year about manifold construction, and to my brother for the help. he does my finish welding (obviously hasnt done it on the manifold yet, except the collector)

engine details are.....
-stock a6 block and head (head rebuilt)
-eagle rods, srp pistons, stock honda bearings, etc...all assembled by me last year.
-stock SI trans, clutchmasters stage 3 PP, centerforce dual friction 8 puck sprung disc.
-.48/.60 turbo, rebuilt by me, balanced by precision, housing modified to eliminate bolt-on ford flanges.
-tuned with truboedit, 720cc' nippon-denso's (soon, 450's right now), walbro 255

i plan on running about 20-22 psi through this setup, tuned by splitime/myself. bigger turbo this year sometime, not sure when. oil cooler setup coming soon (sees a healthy amount of track time per year. )

NIce man. Its good to see a new design type manifold. Most everyone these days just makes a log or ramhorn. (unless it is a manifold already made, and im just dumb) either way

the design isnt really a ramhorn or anything...its just tubes running to a collector.

i spent about 6 or 7 hours building the collector, porting it perfect, etc. the tubes arent equal length, but they are nice smooth flow, and kinda cool looking, IMO. the whole setup should flow about 1,000 times better than my old DRAG manifold, and the charge pipe/downpipe are going to be MUCH better than the old setup.

the whole design focused on turbo placement/packaging for my particular setup. this setup would work on eg's/ek's/tegs, but you need to hack apart stuff to make it fit on an ef.

yeah i was just saying props for a new creative design. Instead of copying.

Do u have any pics of that radiator with the support over it?? I have been realllllly wanting a radiator under the hood latch support, thats clean lookin.

Who is ur brotha?? You talk about his welding skills alot so j/w

yeah, i know whatcha meant...thanks!

no pics of the rad with the support over it..

i'm actually modifying the support quite a bit, in order to be able to get to the rad. cap. i'm going to cut it, chop it, etc.

my brother is just some random kid, who is good at welding. he's been welding since he was 11 or so (he's 20 now, and a much better welder than me..)
he isnt a pro with TIG yet, but by the last runner, he might be good at welding stainless

Those yellow lights make your car look like it just got threw smokin' a fat one.

The manifold looks like it's coming along very nicely, though. Get your bro in there and get that thing on the road.

thats a 3'' thick spearco core...probably good to about 350 whp for cooling...

well, thats what speaco says.. its a modified setup. was for an old porsche of some sort.

i'll get a bigger one later.. its goo enough now..

the car is road course'd heavily. the rad is overkill, but its actually small, just thick.

much smaller dimensionally (except thickness) than the stock ef one.

lookin good. make sure you have solid motor mounts or add a hump hose or something to allow for the motor to torque with out ripping the intercooler off

yeah, the coupler i have expands from 2'' to 2.5'', and its about 4'' long. should have enough flex, but i'm not solid mounting the intercooler..

the engine is poly mounted though.

i had only a poly front mount on it at the end of the year (stripped out rear bracket bolts), and it bent my homemade crossmember about 3/8 of an inch from torque movement.

it was laying down plenty of power last year...this year should be fun.

its really not that small..its pretty much the ideal size for my power level.

its a 3'' spearco core...nice backdoor design with good endtank on one side.

it flows amazingly well, is efficient, and was cheap. probably good up to about 350-400 whp.
