Default 95 Integra GSR with type r intake cam

me and my friend have recently installed a type r intake cam in a 95 gsr. is the stock valvetrain alright with this engine ? or should it be upgraded to a type r valvetrain. the stock gsr vavletrain is only good up until 8400. with the bigger type r cam, would this cause a valve bounce or could it even cause the valves to hit. when the vehicle was started to break in the cam, it had alot of trouble keeping running without one of us using the throttle. in addition to this there was what sounded like a valve tap. . . or as in the valves are to tight. . . also number 1 cylinder is not firing. . . . plz get back to me with any help on this

did you do a valve adjustment?

did you recheck your spark plug wires and make sure they are in the right spot and TIGHT. They could be loose or broken if #1 isnt firing.

The valvetrain should be ok as long as you dont take it over the stock gsr redline.

I wouldnt take it over 8100 because that is what the gsr valvetrain is good for. If you upgraded the valve springs to type r's, you could rev it to 8500.

No more than 8100, just to be safe.

anytime you removed the cams...you have to check the valve clearence using a feeler guage...it will be off and you will notice the cams hitting the rocker arms....intake should be .006-.007 and exhaust at .007-.008.....in the correct order of cylinder 1-3-4-2 starting at tdc. Your stock valve train can hold the R cams but no point in you reving pass 8100-8200 rpm. Dyno tune your car to see where you power falls out at. I have more mods then you do with a jdm b18cR and my peak power ends at 8600 rpm with hondata tuned. I think you should stick with the p72 ecu map and leave it alone. Higher rpm doesnt mean more power if your engine isnt capable of producing that much.
