Default 4th gen Owners: Do all of you have bumper/hood gap?

Hey all,

I was wondering if my front bumper is not on properly. The bumper sits properly near the fenders, however, there is a noticeable gap at the center section of the bumper where it meets the hood. I am not sure how to "fix" this.

I can tell that rain gets through this section (also due to the hood seal being worn out).

Do all the 4th gens have this issue? If not, what can I do to fix it?

I plan to replace the front bumper in the near future. I hope to fix this gap issue at the same time.

Any ideas?

Andy

Um, i have little to no gap.

Try lowering your hood latch - there are 3 10mm bolts that hold the latch on - loosen those and slide it down.....should take care of the gap.

Lower the hood bumpstops also might work out for you

I'll try what you guys are suggesting, however, the hood sits perfectly flush. That's why I think it is a bumper issue.

I will post pics.

I was hoping there was a way to raise only the center section of the bumper. Guess not.

Thanks for the siggestions

There are two long tabs about 3 inches long right next to the nostrils. Loosen the 10mm on each tabs then pull the bumper forward or push it back and tighten the tabs in place see if that helps any.

I've got the gap w/ the bumper as well, and it is flush w/ the fenders so I would assume it's the bumper. I'm not sure how to fix it though, so if any suggestions...please give them.

I tried that already. It helped...A LITTLE.

thats probably due to someone getting in an accident before in your car....tiny bends on those mounting points will throw everything off..

I have a hood/bumper gap too and it came out of no where. and I have hood shake with a stock hood. so I tried to adjust the hood lower to get rid of the shake/get rid of the gap and I havnt been able to get it right. I tried lifting the bumper but I cant seem to figure out how to get it perfect.

I am probably getting a cooling plate for the hood shake. and plane on a new bumper. the hood actually is out of spec because I believe going down the highway has actually put air drag in the center and bent it slightly up.

your hood is probably sagging a little bit either due to age, or as mgags7 suggested, by a previous little fender-bender. I'll bet that a new bumper or re-mounting the old one will fix it

I have the gap on one side too and cant seem to get rid of it. Its like my bumper is a little crooked, but the last owner of my car rear ended someone and i had to replace the bumper. I took mine the whole way off and messed with the mount points and kept test fitting till i got it as best as i could. I had more problems with the nostrils sitting flush and lining up with the headlights than anything. I see more 4th gens with messed up nostrils than anything. Those things are a bitch to line up.
