05 RSX Type S, R rated tires??? 109 mph?

05 RSX Type S, R rated tires??? 109 mph?
heya, just noticed on my buddies 05 rsx that the tires are 215/45/17r's. R's are Rated at 109 mph right? why such a low mph tires? Just seems odd to have car with that kinda performance and throw a tire on like that. does anyone know what the tyype s is governed at mph? like 140?

Aerodynamically i dont think your car would pull more than 136. Maybe going down hill on the 15 fwy.
They changed the rating on tires, i doubt its that low.

Wrong. An "R" speed rating means 106 mph. Go here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...id=35
2005 and 2006 RSX Type-S should have 215/45 R17 87V tires. The second part (the "87V") is the load index and speed rating. Are you sure you're not reading the first part of the information and ignoring the second?

I saw a vid on CRSX of someone going about 145ish in their 05 Type-S.
(the is for the idiot going that fast on public roads, not you.

edit: Found out it was around 155mph... trying to find the vid now.

Tires are measured for example...
a 205/50/R/16 91V ( my toyo's)
ARE 205 mm wide( tread width)
50= Sidewall size as a % of the tread width.
R= Radial
16= Wheel size
V = speed rating.
R means radial, not rimsize.
