i have a b18b ls swap in my 98 coupe.. its always idles at just under 2k and my gas milage is raping me also.. i took carb cleaner and checked for leaks.. all around the intake mani/throttlebody and iacv.. no CEL's either.. anyone have any idea on what it is?

maybe your idle sensor, but I'm not totally sure.

 

Is it revving? Or just idling? Maybe adjust the idle?

 

naw idle screw i already played with.. and yea its just idling that high its not bouncing

 

keep updated want to know what was wrong and how to fix it

ok i think i found 1 problem.. the throttle body butterfly.. when i hold it closed really tight by hand the idle will drop to about 1000-900 rpm.. still a little high i think.. anyway to adjust it? i already cleaned the **** out of it

 

just a guess, but have you messed around with the throttle cable? Try loosening it a bit and that might fix your problem.

 

the spring loader that pulls the throttle closed has an adjustment screw where it rest that is supposed to be fulley closed.. its on the bottom.. i adjusted it and the idle screw plus the cable to get it to about 800 rpm idle.. i thought wow it was just that easy..

then i test drove then the idle started bouncing from 0-1000 when im not on the gas
now its just doing that.... tps sensor?
