Default 90 civic hatch block and head question

I put a D15B7 block in my car, because the original block(D15B2) was cracked. The head on my car was still good, so i used it. I dont know if a D15B7 block(came with 8 valve) and a D15B2 head(16 Valve) i dont know if the water passages will line up or if the head gasket is blocking the passages, i say all this because the car is overheating and the cooling system is operating properly. Can anyone help me?

First off, both the B7 & the B2 are 16 valve motors. Everything should line up between the two motors. Did you use a new headgasket when you reassembled the motor? Hopefully you didn't put it on backwards. Did you bleed all the air out of the cooling system?
