Default difference between jdm and usdm tranny's

to make a long story short, i have a 99 h22a4 engine. i spun a bearing or two, had another h22a4 block built for the car. then when it came time for the swap, the oil filter locations were very different in where they go into the block, and the person doing the swap said the transmissions and differentials were also not compatable...........the problem has been resolved but has anyone run into these differences before or have i just been under a rock and not known.....any input appreciated

Any 4th Gen H22 tranny will Fit any 5th gen. This goes for all the markets and model types worldwide. For instance a Accord EuroR tranny with work with my USDM VTEC 4th gen. There are differences in the gearing of each tranny tho. From JDM, to EuroR, Type S, USDM H22 trannys I *think* all have different ratios. There is a gear ratio chart around here somewhere for all H22 trannys, i'll give a look.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by allmotor99lude &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">the oil filter locations were very different in where they go into the block, and the person doing the swap said the transmissions and differentials were also not compatable..</TD></TR></TABLE>

Sounds like you got the wrong motor. Do you drive a base model or the Type-SH. Although the two motors are both H22s, the Type-SH oil filter is in a different location to make room for the ATTS unit. Also, the two motors have different transmissions for the same reason.

Long story short, if you have a base model prelude then any Hseries tranny will mount on. If you have a Type-SH then your transmission options are limited only to the ATTS trannies.
