United States Market

'87 -'89 DX/LX (USDM)
A20A1 code 1955cc, 95hp @ 5500rpm / 109ft/lb Torque ( 2bbl Carb )
'87 LXi (USDM)
A20A3 code 1955cc, 110hp @ 5500rpm, 114ft-lbs Torque ( PGM-FI )

Canadian Market

'87 EX (EDM)
A20A2 code
'87 EXi (EDM)
A20A4

To verify what you have, there should be a machined pad on the Engine Block where the trans mounts; which will have the engine designator stamped.

'87 was right about when Honda started manufacturing accords off-shore (other than Japan), but there were still quite a few still making the boat trip.
What badge (emblem) sits on the rear panel? EX, EXi, DX ?

First Digit of your Vin designates Country of Origin:

1 = USA
2 = Canada
3 = Mexico
4 = USA
J = Japan
K = Korea
V = France

The first digit did verify that it was manufactured in Japan. The emblem on the rear of the car is EXi, what does that tell you??

A20A4 EXi (EDM (European Domestic Market)
1955cc (2.0L) SOHC 12 Valve (2 Intake, 1 Exhaust) 122hp @5500rpm / 166n/m Torque
PGM-FI Fuel Injection

The EXi is the canadian version of the USDM LXi

You can probably find an owner manual in good shape on eBay for a decent price.

It's not a "Plate" as such. It's no more than a flat machined surface (as opposed to a cast surface) and some poor flunky has the job at the engine assembly plant of standing there stamping blocks. (for $24./an hour USD or $27.69 Canadian )

The C87E designator doesn't come up on anything I can reference, but rest assured, if it's the original engine - it's the A20A4

Although most of us here aren't slouches either.
Actually you're quite lucky; most other forums would edit out you're reference to that other site - and lock out your ip address
