Anybody here go from a 1000 cc sportbike to a 600 cc bike?
I was thinking about getting a nice used '03 YZF-R6. My very first sportbike was a 600 and I had a blast riding it.
The Pros: 90 lbs lighter, 6 speeds, cheaper insurance, better gas mileage, easier around town, newer/better condition..
Cons: Less Torque, highway use..
I guess I could always keep the YZF1000R for touring and trips..
just wondering if anyone here has any experience with this.

honestly the 03 r6 will have a lot less torque, but i bet its just as fast..
btw im going from an 02 954- 05 636... and im stoked about it..
its more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.....

yes.... 1000cc around town tends to be more fun imo because you don't have to keep the rpm's up high to have a lot of power. I can keep my revs below 5k and still go from 0 to arrested in few seconds... Also in the twisties you don't have to worry about dropping out of the powerband. Often times on backroads I only end up staying in 2nd most of the time and shift to 3rd on occasional straight aways. Lets me focus more on the turns themselves. plus my speeds coming out of turns is better because it has so much power down low that I can keep the rear end planted np

You should know Engine#9 has a sexy liter V-Twin. Those have torque EVERYwhere.
I tried a friend's 600 after riding my twin for awhile. I also switch back to my 750 for track-fun. There is a lot less mass to move around with the smaller bikes. The smaller ones need to be wrung out, but that's fun too. And you can get around town just putt-putting with a small bike. It's only when you need to outrun those pesky Porsches that you'll be at WOT. Your R6 has a much more extreme riding positon than the Thunderace you're coming from. Keep the bigger one, if you can afford to do so.
Twice the bikes = twice the pimp.

I think that would be the plan, because the trade in value on the YZF is only like $3000
Thanks for the inputs guys
