What does your owners manual say?

get it on highway and get it in high gear (5th) and floor it till your car hits about 4 grand , than let off. do this over and over whenever your on highway.very good break in routine. load minus high revs = good break in.

Why do people think that the best place to get this simple info is from strangers on the web rather than the experts at Honda?
Honda has the most stake (warrantee claims) in making sure your car is broken in correctly. They have the most experience breaking in these engines. They have torn down more than anyone else. Read their manual. It's in your glove box right now and its full of amazing information that is more accurate than anything you will read here.

Yo... I just can't wait until I get mine. It's been intransit for the longest, since 23rd of January I believe. Should be getting it anytime now. Look at maybe Feb. 13-17... I'll post some pics when it's here. Congrats on yours...

give the guy a break. I agree, people are always quick to ask HT what to do, but the dealership will be the best resource for break in info! simple

when you make a millions of cars a year, it's going to be very very hard to test every single engine that is produced.

I have toured the honda factory in Alliston, Ontario where all the new Si's are built
whenever a new car rolls off the assembly line they take it out on a 2 mile track and beat the **** out of it......redline it.......slam on the breaks

That's like sleeping with your dream-girl on the first date. Sure, its good while you're doing it but a lot can be said for the anticipation leading up to it.
Plus you'll screw up your new car.

Makes sense to me, but even it's b.s. it definatly can't hurt.</TD></TR></TABLE>
bad idea......when no load is on the motor and it's idling...oil circulates much slower.....thats why when i start my car....I wait 30 seconds and then baby it till it's warm

and for those of you that are changing their oil soon.
honda has special additives in their first fill from the factory that has special qualities that help break in new motors. as a certified honda service tech and an 06 si owner I would reccomend waiting until around 5k miles.

5k miles for break in or to change the oil?
As for the break in, read this. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm I found it very interesting.

No ****? Hmm.... now I don't feel so bad about hitting the rev limiter driving my new EP home from the dealership.
I did try to be nice to it the rest of the time, though. And, if I could have two new Hondas on the same day, and treat each one with a different break-in routine, I could actually give a good answer as to which is better.

Just got mine and I was told to drive it like you would always drive it.
I have dogged mine for the first 100 miles.
VTEC is incredible and the car COMES with a warrenty, so if anything breaks they fix it. So drive it hard
