You would get a shorter gears and lsd, i have a b16 tranny their their same except for the lsd, its night and day,

remember its going to waste a bit more gas if you drive highway a lot.

no, it doesnt increase hp.
and yes, I think youd notice a difference, the lsd would give you a bit more traction, and with the shorter gears, it would accelerate a little quicker too.

Bolts right up....Most B-series parts are interchangable.

Short gears=fun driving.

Yes. All you need is the transmission.

what are you planning to do with your car tho? Turbo or natural aspiration? I dont think type R trannies are too good for boosting. Gears are too short for my taste. Well short gears are more fun but waste too much gas. 80mph at 5K rpm.

short gears are hella fun with N/A cars. but once you start making over 300whp or so on boosted cars, traction soon becomes a big issue and so does over revving at times.

Ever look at the gas mileage between the LS, GS-R and Type-R?
It's funny how both the Type-R AND the GS-R get BETTER mileage than the LS. That must be wrong because they both have shorter gearing, right?

It's mis-information saying swapping tranny's will net you lower mileage.

I have the ITR one on my GSR. Theres a difference but its not that BIG. Everything bolts right up, nothing needs to be changed.

I'm thinking of going ITR LSD with my GSR... she def. needs a new tranny... not boosting for a while, but what could I do to remedy the short gears if i eventually do decide to boost?? also... I do a lot of highway driving... cant I just replace the final drive?? I'm not ok with doing 80 mph at 5k rpm

well wasnt that stupid?
as far as im aware of 1st and 2nd gears in b-series transmissions are all the same.
its the 3rd, 4th and 5th that differ.
1st and 2nd are fixed gears...................

so the only advantage now is the type-r lsd...

anddd god damnit with this stupid talk about type-r/b16 transmissions are not good for boost because the gears are too short.
ill say it again.. with an ls transmission the myth is you will be boosting "longer" since its a longer gear.
not true.. you will accelerate slower and will fall out of boost more than likely during a shift.

b16/type-r transmissions will bring you through the gear faster, and yes.. youll still be boosting while going through the gear faster.. and you will remain in boost during a shift..

if you have problems with traction, there are many other solutions rather than putting a tall geared transmission in your car.

what a waste of an itr tranny....
i mean, i can understand taking out 5th and putting the ls 5th in for highway, but why the hell would you take out the wonderfully short 3rd and 4th??

Is it ok to swap out a GSR 5th gear into a JDM ITR tranny??? I need a new tranny ASAP... but dont want that shortened final drive.... I could deal with a short 3rd and 4th though : D

yes it's true that you'll accelerate a lot faster with shorter gears, but you have obviously never had a car with over 350whp and almost the same amount of torque have you? it's almost impossible to do anything about it on the streets and the only remedy for that sometimes is taller gearing. hench the reason why many people prefer the slightly taller gearing of the B18c tranny over the B16/ITR tranny. Even at the tracks with some 22x8x15 M/T's i still spun 1st and 2nd gears all day.

That pedal on the right has MUCH influence over wheel spin, especially on the street. If your skills don't allow for you to control it that way, pull out in 3rd gear.
