Default suspected thief

Without giving too much away in case the guys is readin this post...

I've been on another forum for some time and a guy we will call "Joe" always has type r parts and other rare stuff. why he grabbed my attention is that he has sold "his" type r seats 3 times over the last couple of years by my count. He's also been in possession of B16s B18c1 and c5s along with H22s. He tends to sell stuff somewhat cheaper than the going rate too.

I have also talked to him on the phone and he sounds very sketchy while this is not evidence, my gut tells me he is a thief. He just has way too much honda stuff to not have a store. If he is a crook I'd love to see him rot.

Any suggestions fellas?

(should be thief not theve btw lol i can't spell to save my life)

ya man. i just want to fight back ... I'm tired of reading these post about Rs or whatever getting stolen. You might get the insurance cheque but our cars are special to us...

I think I will keep an eye on his posts for now, maybe I'll try to buy somen form him like an ITR engine and see if I can get the VIN #. I would rather get somen a little more solid. But I will becareful.

Set him up. Then once you have proof, then and only then get them.

dont ask him for the vin, it'll scare him off. I tried to buy 2 engines in the past month from HT members and after I asked for the Vin, they never returned my calls again

Try something else, say you wanna pick up the motor, meet up w/ him, Take some pix of the motors and the VIN numbers, then goto the police. Don't let him get away with what he's doing.

The fact that he has alot of parts doenst mean he's a theif. some people might supect I was a theif based on the items I sell. I've bought over 50 cars from copart and Iaa (Salvage auctions) over the past 3 years. I do pretty much everything from home and honda-tech and Ebay are where I do alot of my sales. I've bought probably 15 99-00 Si's some I've used for parts some I've rebuilt.. sometimes I'll buy a 99-00 si cluster or engine harness off local websites for 100 bucks to turn around and resell it for 200+ on ebay. It might look fishy that I have all these clusters or harness's but its only becuase I double my money with no work involved in less than a week or one time I bought a set of ITR front and rear seats with door pannels for 600 turned around and traded them for some 3000 dollar leather couches.

Do you provide VIN #'s on request, if you have them?

As other have stated, you need something to solidify the evidence. The engine VIN number is a good idea. However, you may need to take it to the next level to insure that you can spark the interests of your local law enforcement.

Take pictures of the engine and VIN up close, have the local police run it. If it's stolen and they seem uninterested still....call up the seller again, and this time pay for the engine and get some kind of bill of sale that you and the seller have signed with the VIN on it. MAKE SURE IT'S NOTARIZED AND THAT YOU KEEP THE ORIGINAL!

Take it back to the police, tell them the guy sold you a stolen engine and you want to press charges.
