Piston to Valve clreance issue? LS
Ok I have a couple questions about valve clearance with after market pistons and aftermarket cams.
I have a LS motor that I just got done re-building the bottom end with JE/SRP 10:5:1 pistons and eagle rods. I also did a minor port & polish to the head and reseated all of the valves.
1) Will I have enough piston to valve clearance if I were to put pair of Crower 403's in the head? JE said that the valve cutouts in the dome's of their pistons (sorry I'm having a brain fart on what they are called right now) are better than stock so what does that mean?
2) Could I run Crower 403's with stock springs and retainers as long as I keep it at the stock redline? What are the dangers in doing that because I have heard of alot of people doing that.
3) And last of all, could I use a Apexi S-AFC to tune with the cams?
Thanks ahead of time for the help....

If there are valve reliefs and it is only a 10.5-1 piston, I don't see how you would even be close to hitting. Have you ever heard of 'claying the engine' to see if you have clearance. Do a search on it. You put clay on top of the piston and rotate your crank to see how far the valves mash down on the piston.
ya i know how to clay it. JE told me the reliefs were better than stock.....so does that mean they are deeper? If thats true then i shouldnt have a problem with clreance correct?
Thanks for the help
