ATTS Reliability/Issues
I'm at the brink of closing the deal on a 98 SH tomm morning. It's got 117k on it and I'm getting it for less than 6k. Guys from P1auto checked it out for me and put it up on a lift. Everything's good except for a couple non-mechanical minor issues. I'd just like to make sure that everything with the ATTS,etc should be ok as the miles get higher (I'll probably keep it for a few more years till 150k). Gonna be daily driven. If I mod at all, it'll be in the direction of NA. TIA.

as long as you don't go crazy with HP, the ATTS will be fine. they handle better than the base, and the ATTS transfers more power when turning than a lsd. i wish i had gotten a SH instead of a base model. for less than $6K you're getting a deal! i have not heard of any ATTS problem in high milage motors.
no issues what so ever with my ATTS and its been goin strong for 117K miles. regular fluid flushes and thats it. Keep it stock and dont SLAM it and everything will be good

Does the ATTS unit have its only fluids or does it run off the engine oil? Sorry, I'm a newb to ATTS system.

yes it has its own fluid. Does share the cooling system though.
If you are unsure of its maitinence history, i would take it to honda dealer for a full 50 pt inspection. At the very least get a compression test and inspect the CV boots for rips and make sure there are no oil leaks. Check the plugs, plugs wires, oil etc... Make sure everything looks nice and maintained. If there are peaks on the electrodes of the plugs, means they are worn and old. Also make sure there is no corrosion on the plug wires, no grains or metal flakes in the oil, oil is not a sludge, oil is at the proper level.

Gave the $500 deposit today. Flyin out to get in a week. As far as the ATTS fluid goes, can it be drained and replaced? What do you replace it with?

What does slamming it have anything to do with engine reliability?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Has to do with ATTS.
