Default Best DVD/Touchscreen Headunit on the market today . . .

Hey guys,

installing a new headunit in my blazer xtreme. need your opinions. This is what i want the Unit to do and then you guys tell me what the best one to get is. I want DVD, Touchscreen, Ipod compatible (play video's from ipod + mp3's), built in amp, etc....

What would be the best unit with a good price?
Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc...

Thanks Guys,
Steve

if you have the space and money why not install a car computer? you can accomplish all of those things with a computer.

alpine is your best bet - there's not a unit out there - tmk - that does video from the ipod

the other ipod integrations out there appear to be sorely lacking. The second best, I believe, is the pioneer.

of course the alpine is not out on the market yet.

A carputer won't do amplification...that would require an out board amplifier. A unit like the alpine is a turn key solution, it's a totally different ballgame then a carputer.

I would check out the new pioneer nav monitors coming out in I say about march. From talking to my reps they are fixing the i pod control. But if you want now the alpine is a good choice, the I-pod control is better. I not knocking the pioneer Because I love them. Its that there i-pod control is not up to par.

thanks for all your help guys.

i understand what a double-din is, would this be needed because of the size of my car factory radio ? remember, this is going into a chevy blazer xtreme.

Thanks guys

Peep out fcm sig. ??? Don't know what the means. I have been looking at the IVA-D310 and IVA-D901 both from Alpine. I was also told to check out the D1 from a friend. What do you think would be better, a pop out or a double din that takes up everything.

I just measured my radio. It is just over 7" long, about 7 1/16" long and exactly 4" inches high.

Any ideas, btw, i pmed you back.

both are good. I am going to leave the looks up to you, I can't make that choice for you. Dd to me stand out a little more then a flip out. Flip out are also good because when you are not trying to floss in can be popped back in, a dd can't. I like dd on tegs and civics because you really have to look into the car to see it. A truck you just have to look in, But it can go both ways.

nice ....

i love both dd's. here is the thing. I just looked up the suggested retail for the Alpine iva-w200 and it was only $1,100. Pioneer always seems to be pretty damn expensive, usually Alpine too so that is why i was shocked about the Alpine. The Pioneer, has a sugg. retail of between $1,600 - $2,200. What system is really worth it ?

Thanks Guys

Thats why I said just wait untill the 06 stuff come out and then you can play with them at best buy or some shop and see which one you like. But I agree with wrx-killer-Sti eater the pioneer is a sick looking unit. But Ive got lucky and i played with the w200 alittle and its pretty simple to nav. and learn the feature. But then again i only played with it for 30 secs to a min. Thing is with me I cant wait.

The pioneer is going to be more because it has the built in hard drive, so you could store music on the av headunit. Thats a real plus for me. Plus it has cd titles allready stored on the radio, no more wondering what the name of a song is

OK my $0.02 worth, unless it's the 06 blazer and it has a DD opening a DD unit will take some work, re. "FCM sig." anything is possible.......

IMO the Alpine IVA-D310 is the best unit for what you want to do, it is also very flexible to add to. 94
