d16y8 swap starting problem!!!!!!!!!!
Ive searched and searched and searched...
I put a y8 into a 93 civic dx. Got a p28 computer off of phearable.net. Ran the
obd1 distributor since i have the factory harness and ran all the vtec wiring...etc,etc. Well when i went to start it turned over like the battery was dead. Charged the battery and got it to turn over but no spark. The battery went went dead trying to get it started. Well i charged the battery again and it would turn over. I tested the battery and its fine. I did notice that the starter was very hot after trying to start it twice. I've checked all grounds and checked the timing and the distributor timing as well. All is well. Might be some bad wiring or corrosion on a connection? I'm about to swap starter's and try again. I'm really stumped here and wish i could get some help

Alright ,
Think i figured it out..
I swaped starters and the battery. Same thing happened. Soooooo I started messing with the timing on the distributor. I found out that im gonna have to crank the old dremal tool and do some shaving on the mounting bracket so i can retard the timing. The motor turns like regular with the distributor unplugged with it plugged it it goes wooooOOp.........WoooP........Woop...woop.......wo oooooo......pop....click..HAHA.
So i shaved the the holes and threw it on and it fired up....Simple as that.
