Default G-Force Long Shifter Questions

I bought a G-Force Long Shifter and was going to have the chassis shop install it while my car is there getting the cage put in. I am really on the fence right now if I should have this installed or just stick with my stock shifter.

I have read some posts on here with people saying they have problems getting the shifter dialed in right. I have also read of the shifter miss shifting and going into 1st. I have also read of people breaking gears and having a lot of issues with the 1-2 shift. I also see a few people selling these brand new and I am wondering if installing and running this shifter is more of a headache then it is worth.

I know people say you need to run solid motor mounts for this to work properly but I have also heard that you need more then just that to stop your motor from moving twisting. I have heard of using a motor plate or mounting the shifter directly to the trans and having the shifter mounted in rubber so that is moves with the trans/motor.

I am just trying to figure out if I should run this or stick with stock. The last thing I want to do is have it installed and then be blowing transmissions.

If anyone that is running this can give me some advice that would be great. If you are selling yours and don’t mind posting or pming me why you decided not to sell it that would be great also.

I would use solid torque and rear(firewall) mount. Have the shifter mounted to a plate with rubber bushings to secure it. If themotor does move and the shifter doesnt it will knock it out of gear. Keep it completely covered from the elements as the shift rod is not stainless and will rust causing it to stick.

I was gonna try Karcepts mount kit for the k series shifter because it would keep it dry.

Solid mounts, mount the shifter solid, and keep that linkage as straight as possible.

My advice with an OEM floor is to mount it under the tunnel like Eggum did so there isn't a major elevation change either. Its going to take some time to get the damn thing to hit all the gears. Its not easy, but once you get it right that shifter is really nice.

Hey Im using solid mounts as well and I am interested in this unit. I heard it rusts. Generally speaking is this unit worth it, is there anything I can do to prevent rusting etc. And finally does anyone in here sell them?

Grease whatever it is that's supposedly rusting up and it won't be a problem. It sucks that a good product has so many people scared because someone said it rusts. If installed and setup right it obviously works.

Exactly. You have to take care of your car. Someone bitched about it rusting right after their car was outside in a rain storm. In my opinion its a great piece and anyone that was having trouble with it was not taking the time to set it up or was simply neglecting the fact that you have to maintain it. Its as simple as greasing it once or occasionally spraying some wd40 in there.

yes they are still availible. they might take a few extra days to get together because its Nascar time and this is a modified version of that shifter. and as of right now there is no plans for a cable shifter. im supposed to talk to them more about it when i go up in a week or 2.

IMO that is the BEST way to mount it when you have an OEM floor. That keeps the linkage pretty straight. Post some pics!

Not too sure about that but Howards rusted from being in the trailer at Moroso. The event was rained out so the car never go out of the trailer and was rusted when he got back. But anything will rust in florida, my turbine housing was rusted when I got back.

A basic one would do. I mean I could guess at it, but just something to follow would be helpful. Anyways I will send you an IM.
