Adding trans fluid to oil, to break up sludge/gunk buildup...
Just like the subject says - some of you may or may not remember a thread about a week ago about a gunk problem I'm having with my VTEC solenoid. Quick review: I pulled a code 22 about a month and a half ago, checked the solenoid, and it was full of gunk/sludge. I cleaned it out, put the solenoid back on, cleared the code, and everything worked fine until about 5 weeks later when I got the same CEL code. So, I repeated the process, and this time there was a little bit of gunk, not as much as last time. I fixed the problem again.
I called the Honda dealership just to ask some advice, or maybe see about an engine flush. They do engine flushes, but it's $79.95 and includes an oil change, so it's not that bad of a deal I guess. But, the tech there told me to try to put about a 1/2 quart of transmission fluid in the oil, and run it like that until time to change the oil. He said that might break it up.
Anybody ever heard of this?
I've also checked my coolant level and it's fine, so I don't think a leaky head gasket is letting coolant into the oil and causing buildup...

All the SeaFoam I've seen is for fuel systems. I've used it in my carb'd engines plenty of times to clean things up, and even used it when I installed an EFI system on my Chevelle. I wasn't aware of a "gunk remover" SeaFoam for oil/gunk/sludge...

seafoam containers says to put 1/3 in the fuel tank, 1/3 in the oil, and the last 1/3 of the can gets sucked through a vacuum line on the IM

i remeber hearin that the engine flush are bad..i dunno if its true or not..they were tellin me that the bad oil blocks leaks..and wen u engine flush that it blows away the oil that helps the seals..make the seals leak..jus a rumor tho..dunno facts
An engine flush is only "bad" on older engines with lots of miles on it. As the miles build, some of the gunk and sludge helps to keep some of the seals intact. So if you flush the engine, all that guk and sludge is removed and the seals leak.
