I am bringing my car in for work at a local shop, and the honest truth is I dont trust the people that work there. Ive seen them chirp cars that have been dropped of there before, and I dont want them to try it with my car. Is there anyway I can temporarily limit revs to like 3 or 4,000 rpm ?
Got MSD with rev limit?
what are you taking it to the shop for? you could always pull a vacumn line so it will just run like ****, and they wont try anything...

if they are that irresponsible and careless of other people's property what makes you think they are going to even do the work right
if u can't trust them not to rag on your car and u shouldn't take your car there for work
you could always put a block under the pedal arm or really loosen the throttle cable if you are set on doing it that way

When the guy writes up your work order he will note your milage. While he's watching, go over and check your milage, write it down on something.
If he knows you are going to check your milage first thing when you get back he's less likely to try to pull something on you.
What kind of work are you getting done? You could always unplug your EACV or FITV or something so you would have a CEL if they tried to drive it, that might discourage them also.

chances are, he's gonna HAVE to test drive it. and, at least in my town, they all rag on the cars they are workin on
best do it yourself or be in there w/em when he's driving it.
it's what I would do.
