Default 94-97 Accord Questions

Hello, after having a baby, we are looking to aquire a 94-97 Accord wagon, since a two seaer CRX won't cut it long term. I was wondering upon looking at these year Accords, what trouble symptoms should I look out for, pros, cons, likes , dislikes? Looking for feedback before I purchase a hauler. Reliability, power, gas mileage, snow traction,etc.... Are these the F22A motors for the LX and EX wagons? I don't recall any of the listings having the V6. Thanks for ANY feedback in helping make my decision.

wagon came with the 145hp motor standard since 130hp would not cut it for the extra weight. There are not too many reliability problems with the 5th gen cars. I had a 2dr LX and it was a great car.

The '94 -'95 Accord wagon should do you well for your first "Family" car. Reliable to a fault, with proper maintenance they will last (what seems like) forever.
Whatever may go wrong is often normal maintenance items and adjustments.
It's maintenance requirements are much like your CRX.
You may find some issues with slow front door power windows and glove box lights not going off and the occasional broken heater Temp ****, but that's about it.
Up to last November, we had three 5th Gen's in the driveway. Between them all they had 628k miles operated. And for that mileage I've replaced:
Radiator (1)
A/C Compressor (1)
Oil Changes (God only knows )
Timing belts (4)
I had four (4) times the repairs (in one year) for the '88 Accord we use as a spare car!
You will have made a good choice

The 94 wagon I was looking into had some rust, needs radio, cv joints, boots, and speedometer cluster as odometer not working. I need a wagon for the room, as the CRX won't accomadate me, wife, and car seat. My old 87CRX went to 237k miles with no major problems aside from getting hit 7-8 times before she gave out. I'm keeping the 85 for spring /summer dry weekend use. I had an Escort wagon a couple years ago and loved the room, but they suck as far as power, engine, transmission, and build quality. Thanks for the info Accordites, I hope to join you soon.

I have a '95 LX in manual transmission (from the factory) and I've got to say it's the best car I have purchased. It's got decent enough power for what it is and although I have done some suspension work, it handles for again....a FWD wagon. Just got the timing belt/ water pump/seals done and it runs like a dream. I've also replaced the ignition lock cylinder assembly and unfortunately now it needs the electronic portion of the ignition switch ($30). All in all, great fun and there's even a online forum dedicated to all things accord wagons. http://www.accordwagonclub.com I use the same "screenname" on there as I do here.

You can see a pic in my signature of the two phases it's been in....

Added: Oh yeah, you have to watch out carefully for the rear quarter panels on the 90-97 accords. Almost all cars that I have seen in the midwest and east coast have rust damage there.

2nd edit: Actually the only pic I want to show you is my avatar. It's most current stage. I forgot I'm not on AWC. haha
