Default is 12V ok for a walbro 255 pump ?

i heard stock pumps only run on like 6V or something.. i dont know if its true but im gonna put my 255 lph pump in soon and i was wondering if i can just bypass the relay and run an 8gauge wire to the battery and to a switch for it or will it not work as well? i did it on my eclipse and it was ok but i dunno if honda is diff.

its a bolt on swap so you dont need to do anything to it.
