new roll cage
there is an added bar that is needed to your cage to make it legal for use this season... I was talking to our local chassis shop, (who certifies all cages NHRA) and you need to now have a bar that goes from the bottom of the main hoop to the center of the tunnel... This rule has been made for this season and for here on out.... The bar is added to help streghnthen the chassis from folding in.... I would contact Danny Gracia of NHRA for any questions concerning the new rule.... Just trying to keep you from not having any issues in the future....
So just a horizontal bar across the floor going to the "transmission" tunnel? Are the bars going from the cross bar down to the tunnel still required as well?

Actually talking to Ken Gentry here in California (he certifies here in Nor Cal), there has to be a bar that connects on the rocker sills (the outside ones that the lower seat belts where bolted to). That bar has to have gusstes as well, and can be in front of or behind the main hoop. The bar can be bent to go around or over the "trans tunnel" or "shift linkage tunnel" whatever you want to call it. The D bars are then welded to that new bar. This is per the CMCC (I think that is what Ken referred to it as). Pat has also been updated on this info as well.

id like to see a picture of what you are trying to explain, similar to that of the pics in the SFI rule books. which state o.d./i.d and everything inbetween.
is this similar ???

Yeah that is defiantly going to hurt in the summer when I stub my toe racing bare foot.

Those bars that run to the tunnel next to the pedals seem that they will be very menacing. I cant imagine that this is necessary. Id like to hear more...

Here is one i just did and that was certified by Ken Gentry this is the D-Bar support ... Its says in the rule book that the D-bar have to be welded to a subframe.. Since the unibody doesn't have a Subframe this 1 5/8 .083 bar welded across the rocker sill now acts as one..

danny i cant find this anywhere, so we are gonna have to do this? also how about sill bars ? whats specs are these going to have to be in order to pass? this will fu..k up alot of interior work for me...how about the exhaust on the orange civic?
I just got off the phone with the NHRA Div. 1 tech director. The rule states that if there is an inner frame rail the D bar must land on it. If there is no inner frame rail the D bars can go on 6 x 6 1/8" plates.

Kerry thanks for looking into this.
Kerry thanks for looking into this.
So that means it can go to 6x6 plates rather than having a bar run across, correct? The "D" bars are the diagonals from the crossbar to the floor, correct?
yes, you do not have to do this...
it states this page 88 section 12..(it is mandatory in any car with a MODIFIED FLOOR OR ROCKER BOX WITHIN THE ROLL CAGE UPRIGHTS) wouldnt this clear it up..

Yeah, i know it's not in the rule book, but it was presesnted as a "new" rule that's why i'm asking. I talked to Javier from NHRA this morning and he didn't know anything about it, i'm going to call Pat, the NHRA tech guy to be sure.
