because its so much easier to use an engine management system with an obd1 setup. obdo is very limited in what you can do ( altho you can go with zdyne ) but obd1 has a wide majority of options and is widely used

wider variety of tuning options, obd0 is like a factory intake and exhaust - restrictive

easier to chip and more tunable, more tuning options are available for it!

People choose to run OBD-1 and a P28 ECU with Mini-me swaps or full conversions because it's the right way to do it

I guess I do not see everyones point. Seems the term "engine managment" is being thrown around in such a fassion that one would think you need a factory ECU to have it. If you are using a piggyback system, or a factory based system, the OBD1 setup is best. However, if you are using a true stand alone, such as SDS, Redline ect... it does not matter. After a true stand alone...there is no OBD anything about it. And would seem... less trouble as well

when they say engine management they mean uberdata, AEM, and Hondata. uberdata requires an obd1 ecu and the other two basically require the plugs.

Just so you guys know... obd0 has tuning solutions.... TurboEdit is coming of age. Its got fully configurable maps, 1wire vtec, RTP and now has datalogging/maptrace and autotuning in the works... almost done on last parts... just in testing phase.

So a pm6 can run a nice swap... or a vtec sohc... or a boosted of any of those....

I use and am pretty happy with crome and it uses obd1, having an obd1 b16 makes getting parts easy, I just use del sol parts. I ran into some poor bustard to day at the parts store trying to find a alternator for a obd0 b16. I was going to help him, but he was a tool bragging about his bad *** turbo civic while having the poor parts lackey looking up a 90 ex d16 alternator. It was kinda funny them both staring at the two alternators side by side wondering why they weren’t the same. I was like “good luck”
