any cable bseries transmission will work, ls are geard real tall and accelerate slow, jdm b16 trannys r very nice, and usdm gsr ones are too but are hard to fine, b16 ones are hard as well too.
obd = on-board diagnostics.
Has nothing to do with transmission. The cable -> hydraulic switch might have been in accordance with an obd-x to obd-x switch but that has nothing to do with the transmission.
You need a cable transmission of some sort. All b-series cable transmission will bolt up to the b18 block. I suggest getting the LSD b16 cable transmission (i forgot the tranmission code, YS1?)
Also, you can use a hydraulic transmission. BUT, you need different mounts, like the hydraulic ones from hasport, and also some other things to make it work. To make it simple on yourself: use a cable transmission
Um years... I know that any 90-91 will work 100%. And the 94+ will not work as they are hydraulic and I'm not too sure about 92-93. (this is all usdm, i have no clue as far as jdm)

you could get the hasport mount kit and use a hydro tranny on it as well, basically its a bracket your cable goes into and the mechanism levers and **** make the vertical motion horizontal like they hydro trannys need. but from hasport they are around 300 i think. maybe find a used one, youll have way better luck scoring a gsr or si tranny thats hydro than you will cable. youll usually find only ls trannys that are cable, cable ones are far and few between.
which is the better tranny to have for overall performance? sticking with a cable trans... low and high rpms... how do i know if its a ys1 there is a little number stamp under the vents (i believe its under the vents on top) woudl that be how?
the j1 which comes from the jdm integra xsi, geared the best for acceleration, and if you think about it, it makes sense theyd need that tranny to get a heavy *** turd with a b16 in it
but its rare to find one, a y1 tranny is a jdm b16 crx sir tranny, works great too, anything but a ls. unless your making **** tons of power. even with 300whp a ls tranny still isnt too bad, but all motor wise

ls tranny isn't as bad as everyone says. I've used both and if you do any freeway driving you might consider the ls. i've seen people with stock b16s and ls trannys running mid-high 14's.
