how does the o2 sensor come out?
Right up front, I don't know crap about Hondas, but I'm about to learn.
It looks like my wife's 92 accord motor bit the big one, #3 rod. Of course this is the day after getting the car out of the shop with a new tranny. Figured I'd try a quicky rebuild but I didn't get far.
How do I get the o2 sensor out of the exhaust manifold? It looks like I can't get that heat shield off until the sensor comes out. The engine is in the car.
It's a lx car with a four cyl. A 2.2 I think, and auto.
I'll have about a million questions before this is done, so I hope you guys are up for it.

With an o2 sensor socket, but you should be able to get the heat shield off with the sensor in, just unplug it, then you can take the 02 sensor out with a 22mm(?) wrench
When you go to reinstall the O2 sensor, it's a good idea to paint the threads with an aluminized anti-seize compound. Not only does it facilitate removal (if you ever have to take it out again), but it will also keep the threads from rusting and ultimately stripping out when you go to reinstall everything
This goes for any fastener which is prone to rusting in place (Exhaust Manifold studs, etc.
Ask away, there's plenty of people to answer.

you mean unplug the wire at the harness and thread the shield off it? I gave the wires on the sensor a pretty good tug and nothing unplugged.
The wire(s) to the O2 Sensor DO NOT disconnect from the sensor's body. There is a plug which attaches to the harness, probably no more that a foot away.
