Default Chipped Accord ECU...

Is it a good idea to chip the ECU on an F22B SOHC Vtec with an Auto tranny? It lowers the Vtec to 2500rpm, and the A/F is changed slightly, the speed governer is removed, and the redline is raised to 8K. The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that when I'm cruising in 4th gear about 80mph, I'm at roughly 3300rpm. If the chipped ECU drops the Vtec changeover point, I'd be in Vtec all the time. That can't be good, can it? Please help me out. I'm trying to make the most out of my daily driver.

Thanks in advance!

6,000 rpms of vtec engagement, sorry buddy i dont think so, and if it changes the redline to 8 grand that motor is gonna blow, what ecu do you have? You should do a lot more research before post stuff like this, also since you have an auto accord its time to step up and put in a h22 with 5 speed and then worry about tuning your car.

dude, not a lot of people have money to SWAP to different Engine. If they got money lying around like that, don't you think they just go ahead and order a SKYLINE from Japan with all MODS installed already? I just bothers me when people like this tell you to do some more research when YOU ALREADY DID RESEARCH and can't find the CORRECT answer that's why POSTING a TOPIC and hopefully get a CORRECT REPLY/ANSWER

well, i have the same problem with you as DoN't know what kind of setup for my Fuel Mangement system for the car to perform right (without damaging the engine) and i've been asking questions around. Alot of people recommend using Hondata s200 or s300 to replace the Stock ECU computer and ask a Tuning Shop to tune it. I finally got a tuning shop here to tun it for me and they also sell Hondata and can hook me up too.

the only thing that would be "bad" - your gas milage would be reduced.

that's for a manual transmission. hope you didn't buy it. I wouldn't buy anything from a seller who can't even write coherent sentences either.

where are you seeing 6k of vtec?? 8k - 2.5k = 5.5k. and "sorry buddy I don't think so" isn't a very technical or helpful answer. instead of knocking him, why don't you explain WHY you think this is a bad idea. on an N/A setup engaging vtec that low won't gain any real power but it's not going to hurt anything really.

just because the redline is 8k the motor's going to automatically blow?

if anything you'll float a valve or two revving to 8k, not blow the motor. F series don't make any power that high anyway, revving that high would be pointless.

a tipical noob question, vtec is not like a magic switch that you can just engage and boom..power everywhere.

vtec is a compromise for stock gas mileage and an increasement of power on demand.

if you can make power by lowering vtec, why honda set it the way it is? would it make sense? if you try to play around with vafc(vtec engagement point, hi/low) you'll see what i mean

and about reving, B said it all.
