Default My CRX. I'm looking to 'up' it a little, and would like a few opinions.

I'm starting to look around, trying to find the best exhaust and some other parts for the money for my Rex.
I'm looking for an exhaust that will give me a few HP, or ANY performance at all, and I'd like for it to look and sound as near-stock as possible.

I don't know quite what to look for, name brand wise, since I'm kinda new to the import scene, but I'd like to do some upgrades to my car. I'm about to do the ZC engine swap, and while it's on blocks and the engine is loose, i'd like to put some nice parts on it.

So, I'd like to maybe get some opinions on upgrade parts I should be looking into.
I don't really know what works and doesnt work, so I'm turning to you guys.
Maybe you could give me some opinions/options on things like aftermarket header/exhaust, intake, maybe pulleys, wires, whatever.

Just stuff like that. Simple bolt-ons I can do while my engine is out, and easily accessible to install the header and stuff.

Thanks guys.
-Andrew

the best exhuasts i've seen taht are everyone's favorite is the Mugen, i fergot what exhuast and also Thermal R&D full cat exhuast. everyone here like the megan racing headers.
as for inatake, go to ebay and get one. they range form like 20 - 30 dollars, jus swap the filter and your good to go

I'm sorry but thats the stupidest thing i've heard all day. If in the event that you even LOCATE a real Mugen you will have to sacrifice your soul for it. Last one sold on eBay for $900~ shipped from the UK. It will most likely be in poor shape and will not yield you very much performance increase at all because of the age.

If you want a good opinion from someone who has studied the ED/EF chassis for quite sometime now, you can trust my opinion on parts.

Exhaust - RSR Exmag catback (not a fart can, stock setup looking in a 2.25 pipe. Sounds amazing once broken in)

Intake - Stock box with front intake arm removed and upgraded drop in filter (no need for ugly colored intakes which dont do anything at all but give better throttle response.)

Header - DC 4-2-1 or if your cheap, a Megan 4-2-1 (can be installed or removed with ease with motor in

And if you are planning to do the full bolt ons (I/H/E) I would recomend changing out your stock cat for a high flow or an OEM replacement.

just do a custom es oval muffler places where your stock on is and a tip coming out where the stock location is. using 2.25 inch piping... will look and sound as stock as you can with an aftermarket setup while still providing better performance and it would be real cheap as well.

Well it's not my favorite, and i'm not riding the JDM bandwagon. If I wanted something that looked like the Mugen i'd buy the HKS sport for dual tips. Because everyone knows that HKS parts get you laid NOT Mugen

Mugen exhausts suck..Who would pay all that money for small piping and crappy metal..But I guess since its "jdm" its the best..

But to answer the og poster,,This is how I would do it..

Megan racing header and cam gear
high flow 2.5" catylist converter from jegs
ngk or new oem spark plug wires
Ebay $10 intake
Exhaust..There are so many to chooes from..If I had the money I would get the greddy sp but I dont so I got the obx catback and its good.I just dont like the muffler..

That's great I've had an HKS on every Honda and Acura that I've ever owned. My CRX is complemented with the Sport and the Drager on my R...Great performance, factory look, and rich sound!

The money is a whole other issue.

Well, thanks guys. This has givin me a lot to think about.
I think I've decided on the following:

-Ebay Special cold-air piping with nice filter(k&n and the likes)
-DCS or Megan 4-2-1 header/downpipe
-stock exhaust for now... if I do something later on, that RSR Exmag catback Skunk. Werks brought to my attention sounded like a nice match, along with a High-flow cat. BTW, does anyone have a video of this in "action"???
-NGK wires/platnum plugs

I think it will be looking pretty nice in there.
In my mind my color scheme will be pretty tight(but probably WAYYYY overplayed), consisting of Black/White(body colors)/Stainless Steel(chrome if you will).

And before I install the new ZC engine, my entire "bay" will be degreased/cleaned, as well as the new engine, so it's all gonna look like new!!

I'm as giddy as a 15yr-old school girl in a guys locker room about this swap.
It's my first time, so I'll be loosing my virginity of engine swaps on this car. I just want to make everything perfect and special.

^^^ Thats sig worth people.... sig worthy! ^^^
And yeah right. just b/c i said that(perfect and special thing), I'll have broken parts in the engine for sure...

Thanks guys. This is a nice break from other car websites that have been flaming me b/c I can't afford the nice, quality parts.

I have a DC header with Greddy exhaust on my DOHC ZC, sounds pretty good, moves even better. If you have any problems with the swap check out my links especially the ZC Resouce link, it's a great place for any info ZC related.
