Default Horrible Gas Mileage. Im Stumped

I have no idea what is going on with my daily driver but Im getting some really horrible gas mileage. Im used to getting 30+MPG but for some stupid reason Im getting like 8MPG. I replaced my main fuel relay, my O2 sensor and checked over everything else and I cant seem to figure out what the problem is. The car seems to be running rich but my ECU is not throwing any codes at all. I have no idea what the problem might be. Anyone have any idea what might be causing the problem? Any suggestions would be appriciated because Im going through like $10 in gas a day just going to work and stuff and $10 used to last me like 4 days.

Thanks

Could be a clogged/faulty cat.

for what its worth.. my tire pressure was pretty low for a while, and that knocked my mpg down about 5 mpg.. but... not 30..

the only car i had get that bad gas mileage had a leak from the fuel tank where i would fill it all the way up and it would leak down to halfway and then hold gas normally. check to make sure your gas tank doesnt have a leak. i guess your gas could also be evaporating if there is a hole topside too..

just throwing out ideas.

I know my gas tank is not leaking or I would of seen something on the floor of my garage, on my driveway or in the lot at my work. I guess it could be my cat. Ive replaced my resinator pipe and my muffler but never even looked at my cat. Ill check it out tommorow and see whats going on with it. I keep you guys updated on the situation.

Do you smell gas when you're running? Gas might leak from the gas cap, but I still get like 25-28 mpg.

No not really that much of a gas smell. It comes off and on. I cant tell if it is from my car or the one in front of me or just a smell in the area. Its pretty faint and Ill go a week or more without smelling it but then Ill be driving and the smell will be there.

Its not my gas cap because I replaced that when it failed compression test when I had to get emmisions done. So that cap is only like 4 months old so that shouldnt be the problem. I assume that I am running rich because I cant think of any other way to be going through that much gas other than having a leak in my tank which I cant see. I just had it up on the hoist on Monday for a while when I was replacing my axels because they were fubared. I never noticed a gas smell or any leaking coming from the tank.

Ill drop by a local shop I know tommorow and see what he might think it will be. Ill see if he has some time to check out my car and if not then Ill wait untill he does have a minute or two.

Does it feel any more sluggish than usual? Try resetting the ECU?

I'm pretty stumped myself

dragging brakes wouldnt cause a huge fuel cunsumption

If your car runs and drives fine, throws no cels and doesnt smeel while driving then you either:

1: getting perfect gas milage and your just crazy
2: fuel gauge is not functioning properly
3bviously if the car runs fine, doesnt bog and idles good then the fuel is not making its way into the motor, your losing it before then, maybe a leaky fuel return or nice hole in a gas line, but you would distinctively smell gas for sure

Its obvious the extra gas isnt making it to your engine though, this is an n/a motor Im guessing?

check and make sure your throttle position sensor isnt loose. my b16 crx got horrible gas millage and would run crappy most of the time, ended being the tps was loose. i searched around and found directions on how to set it, took care of all my problems.
