VTEC soleniod questions/ problems
I noticed today that I am definantly not hitting vtec in my crx... I have the JDM B16A in my car. I am not throwing the ECU code for the soleniod or anything tho... the only code I am throwing is the TDC sensor code... I just replaced the distributor 3 weeks ago and I am still throwing that code... Now I am not sure that if that sensor is still messed that it would effect the VTEC Soleniod... but what I am wonder is if my thermostat is stuck open... I know that if the engine doesnt warm up to operating temp then the VTEC wont work... So could that be it.... I know that when i run my car for a long time I can open my hood and and the radiator is cool and the top hose is barely warm... so let me know what you all think...
Fix all codes and replace your thermostat. More than likely, the problem will go away.
And yes, the car needs to be up to operating temperature for vtec to engage.

Unless you know someone in europe you wont find a B16a1 thermostat..But I used a 90 integra thermostat and a del sol b16a3 thermostat,,Both fit So Im guessing that you can use any b-series thermostat. (excluding the old preldes of course..)
