Default survived hydrolock at 2000 rpm.

2003 s2k w/ AEM v1 CAI AND their bypass valve.

leaving work tongiht. just pulled out of my parking spot car was parked on a hill by my office. can had been there in a terrential downpour since lunch. it drove FINE at lunch even in the rain there. start it up. roll back off the hill. put it in first and start going get 25 ft. car starts to hesitate like bad MAP sensor i lift a bit, then it locks i clutch in. hti the starter....LOCKED.

I work for a motorcycle racing parts company...so we have lots of tools. push her back into the parking lot.

pull plugs and coilpacks
unplug injectors
unhook lower half of intake to see it filled with water.

spin motor over on the starter to clear the water out...it was not TOO bad. but water came out of all 4.

dumped out the remainig water from the CAI. reinstalled everything and started her up. it took a bit of cranking to get it going...but it fired up.

no noises.

warmed it up and took it out and right up to 9k with no problems. i figured if its gonna break i want to be close to work so i can hitch a ride home.

made it home (17 miles) with no problems.

ill do a comrpession test this weekend and post up....but it looks like i got lucky.

My guess is you don't have the proper holes covered up in the engine bay. I have an 02 with the aem v2, been through everything and has sat outside for long periods of time under heavy rain. No issues ever here. I covered 2 areas in the bay, one is the hole near headlights and there is another in the vicinity. I covered both of up tape. I even cut slits into the faux covers and have driven through everything. I even tracked the car hard in pouring rain, i felt that was the real test.

I am glad to see nothing is messed up though

AEM may give high gains, but it still affects some areas of the s2k's performance. Ive heard some stories where it just gives all top end power and hurts the low/mid enough to notice it...

when ever someone says AEM sucks you guys always have to go into a bash JDM thing, or a I hate AEM because its not JDM...how about everyone stops the JDM hate

im not trying to bash jdm...i have some jdm parts on my car but im not strictly jdm...i buy what i fell is the best for my car...i like both just seems like people like to bash aem because it's not jdm...mabey that wasn't the case here sorry if i was wrong...i haven't noticed any powerloss at low end with it ... it was the 1st modd i put on my car and i could notice a slight gain actually at about 4k

I ran an AEM intake for quite a while and never noticed any low or mid losses from it.

remember though, each motor is different...Just because AEM gets over 8rwhp doesn't mean you will.

Some s2000's dyno under 200rwhp from the factory, and some dyno over 200...
