Default didnt pass smog....?

so i recently went to go get my car smogged today and about a month ago i had purchased a si cluster and swapped it out with my dx cluster i had in there....the si cluster had lower miles on it, so i swapped it back out again with the dx cluster before i went to go get it smogged...everything passed except for the Function test (whatever that means) when i asked the guy why i didnt pass he had asked me whether or not i recently disconnected my battery. i told him that i did disconnect it, but i really hadnt. Then he said that driving around for awhile would fix that problem...so i guess my question is: would swapping out cluster right before doing a smog check make it fail the function test?

It sounds like the ECU showed it wasn't in its readiness state.

If you disconnect the battery, clear DTC's, etc...the ECU takes a while before it is considered "readiness" for a smog check.

Just means its gone thru enough milage or engine cylces without throwing a code, so operational wise everything is running well.

Don't worry about the cluster, they don't care. Leave the Si one in and save yourself the work. I can assure you that swapping out the cluster isn't why it failed.

The BAR smog ref overlooks the cluster as long as everything else is alright.

No one "overlooks" the cluster. Its not important. Period. It doesn't matter where you go, they won't care.

the reason why u didn't pass the function test, cuz u recently disconnected the battery cable and lost all the readiness monitors test. You just need to run the car for couple of days in different driving condition and the ecu will automatically run the readiness test as u r driving. u need at least 2 out of 3 monitors to pass in order to pass the function test.

I have reffed my car once, and done several other cars for friends as well as smogged my car regularly twice and transferred ownership from TEXAS to California. I have made mention of my cluster to the DMV, all the smog stations and the ref. No one has once cared. Same applied with my friends cars..
