Of course I havent seen it in person, but I think I like that hatch. However, I have an ep3 that I really like, guess I am just a hatch nerd.
I have a friend that who is a sales manager at Honda dealer who offered me a great deal on a new Si and I turned him down at the time. If that hatch came over as a Si or R I would have to really think about adding it to the stable.

That is about 1000000x nicer than the normal hatch Europe gets.
If you read the article, you'll notice they say the EP3 Type R peaked at a sales volume four times over what Honda expected. Basically, they know they're onto a winning formula, so this new CTR will is making less power than it could from that 2.2 in order to make more torque for better driveability.
The Civic "Type RR" sounds like it's going to be more like what we expect from a Honda with an R badge.

Actually the Type-R will come with the ever popular 2.0L 197hp motor. The idea, borrowed from the motorcycle division, is building a stronger car from the factory using the Type-R as a starting point. Thus birthing the Type-RR (Race Ready?)

I gotta say that car looks bad ***. The normal Civic in Europe is so nasty, but that RR looks mean as hell.

Not a typo. The Type R will be like a mainstream "hot hatch" to compete with the GTI, etc...the Type RR will be more like what we normally associate an R badge with (lightweight, Recaros, so on and so forth). The RR thing is just coming from their motorcycles, which makes sense.
Sounds like a good plan to me considering the EP3 Type R sold really, really well there but was pretty restrained for an R.

I totally agree, I can only hope they give North American some Type RR love on this one! I love my ep3, but would trade it for a real hot hatch.

Haha yeah, this is where the wishing and speculation starts. It's really too bad because I have a feeling Honda won't even consider bringing it over now since it's a hatchback. Plus it's a significantly different model than the USDM Civic. I think it would do well though if they priced it right at $26k with no options (like $6k above the Si base price). It wouldn't be stepping on any toes either since it's so different from the Si and more expensive and higher performance than the RSX Type S.
If Acura wasn't trying to go more upscale I could see it in their lineup. It looks like an Acura and would be just one level above the RSX.

I love my EP, but that new 3-door rocks.
I still think it's weird that Honda is bringing the US more Si models; makes the label less "pure", IMO. The highly tuned Type-RR version should be best in class.
