Default HID retrofit

Why do people use the S2k or TSX projectors for these retrofits?
Is it for a specific look, or is it fitment?
I am looking at the "kits" offered on hidplanet.com, and see that they have some with projectors. Getting the TSX projectors is another 200 or so, worth it?

They use the projectors so the cutoff is correct.

All the HID projector cutoffs are nice. However, some are sharper and have more color than others, i.e. S2k and TSX. You can't beat the TSX in terms of color and output and s2000 in terms of cutoff sharpness.

all of your questions will be answered with my post this weekend. Keep your eyes peeled

edit: to answer some basic info for you though, both TSX and S2K projectors are amongst the easiest to retrofit into our headlight housings. S2K cannot be beat in terms of sharpness, and TSX is producing amazing colors. My HID retrofit will be installed tomorrow night and i will have a post up for all of you to view 3 things

1st oem bulbs
2nd aftermarket HID kit
3rd OEM HID retrofit

S2K OEM projectors are used due to the good fit and sharp cutoff....

Stanley projectors (S2k, TSX) are the best on the market. The S2k has a sharper cutoff but the TSX has more color. Here are a few pics of my tsx setup.

I've had S2K and TSX projectors lit up side by side and they have the same cutoff sharpness... I think the TSX projectors (stanley HID projectors) are the best out on the market right now, even greater than projectors in high end cars (i.e., BMW, mercedes, etc.). People get the TSX projectors because 1. the lens is clear and doesn't have the notorious DOT ribbing on it, 2. they are fairly small in size, 3. They are a dime a dozen on ebay... but downside is that they're also becoming a hot stolen item from TSX's.

Here is my TSX retrofit into my EP3 CTR projector lights:

ehh I would have to disagree, I had a bitch time with my s2ks. but sold those and going for tsx soon. Let us know Jon D how it goes. And goodluck man

my friends Rich and Bjorn at http://www.customlightz.com have said time and time again that both the stanley projectors used in TSX and S2Ks are amazing and in their opinion the best projectors being used my any car company at the moment

Jon, did you notice that the above post is the first time that user has wrote more than one 5 word sentence?

Mr D. is correct, in his statement. Wish I had the dough to do a retro fit at this time.

s2k projectors actually provide a wide light output than tsx and should have more color at the cutoff line (eye level) if aligned properly.

Don't forget 05+ TL Bi-Xenon's.

I have e55 AMG Bi-Xenon's retrofitted in my integra right now (that I did myself), and the Bi-Xenon feature (my low beams are also high beams) makes a legit retrofit worth it alone.

I just picked up some TL Bi-Xenon's, may have to modify the housing a little because they're pretty big but hopefully I will have them in soon

Its really not a how to man..... customlightz did the retrofit, i just had the pleasure of having Bjorn present to help me to do the install personally and we took nice pics of the install all along the way. I myself took before and after pics, the before consisting of oem bulbs, then the aftermarket HID kit. Last night i took pics of the retrofit installed and tweaked to perfection so you guys can see what a difference retrofits really make
