Default 96 lx: ANyone replace their CAT CONVERTER with ARVIN- Questions

Autozone sells cat converter but has anyone had issues. Currently displaying
the po420. I reset by pulling the 7.5 amp radio fuse. .. but this is second time in
1000 or so miles it came on. Also read the temp sensor could be bad? I did notice that the cooling fans aren't coming on.... WOuld this affect it? I guess I should also check the timing?? or am I wasting time?

Just wondering if the replacement from AUTOZone will function okay....

Any thoughts..... its alot cheaper than OEM and has lifetime warranty...

Also, does pulling the 7.5 amp radio fuse reset the computer or is the code stored
somehow even after cutting the juice to the ECM???

THanks

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency below threshold (bank#1)

There are two expressly seperate Temp Sensors on these cars. One which operates the Coolant Tempurature Gauge (Cluster), one to operate the Radiator and condensor Cooling Fans and the last which reads engine collant Tempuratures for the Engine Management System.

There are two fuses which power the Ecm(s).
Underhood Fuse Box: #13 - - 20 amp ECM / PCM Main Feed
In Cabin Fuse Box: #4 - - 7.5amp ECU (cruise) EAT, ECM and TCM memory

I think you were looking at the Radio memory fuse (7.5 amp)

Arvin is a good product line, I wouldn't be afraid of it

Edit (update) P0420 refers to the output of the 2nd position (heated) O2 sensor being insufficient. It refers the to sensor element, rather than the heater system (different code).

Okay. Are you saying that I have to pull all of these fuses to reset the
emissions computer to get my car to pass. Hayne's manual says to rest code you just have to pull the radio back-up fuse ie the 7.5 amp in the engine compartment.

Are the codes hard coded and only removed by some sort of scanning tool?

...... anyway.. i reset the radio backup drove the car for 110 miles highway.. some city and the p0420 code has not come on yet.....

Since it is off now do you think I can take it in for the emissions test??

Thanks for the reply...

With the light off, it would pass in my state of R.I.
The proceedure for the OBD2 systems is they plug directly into the Diagnostic Port and the On-board ECM reports the system's integrity.
If the secondary O2 sensor should start playing games again (during the Inspection test) it would cause a 'fail' condition.
