Default Turbo possibilites on R18a1

Anyone know about what the possiblity of turbo'ing the new R18A1 (06 civic fg1 motor) is?

The motor doesn't seem to be the traditional 4 port exahust (with you know, 4-2-1 type deal) it just seems like it comes out as ONE into the catalytic converter (since i don't think technically there is a header)

would it be possible to do an internal waste gate with a manifold that is just like a half U pipe connected to a turbo and so forth?

any thoughts?

IIRC this engine has some form of variable volume control, where, depending on the load of the motor, more or less air is sucked into the cyllinder, and in some cases, extra is pushed out... meaning that the ports are held open longer on the intake side.

But I don't understand enough to really know how this motor would react to the turbo...

Perhaps you could confirm but I thought I heard something about the header being basically one peice with the head? Or maybe it was what you said up above and I have got it wrong. Like you were saying not sure how they would play into it. The fitment of the turbo mani and the turbo itself seems like it could be a bit of a problem as well as there is not a really good way to tune it yet as no (to my knowledge) engine managment has been released. Ok now I am just rambling on.... hopefully more will come and add some insight.

Well, that direct into canister design is something Toyota has been doing for some time. My parent's Camry is like that as well, it's supposed to heat up the cat and create less emissions faster. Then, supposedly, in Toyota's case, it goes to a second cat. IIRC. However, the design steals 10 Hp from the motor right off the bat.
