fog light questions.
Ok i just bought a kit from a guy owning a company called SNL performance. When i installed them the fog lights work, but theres no light coming on in the switch. Anyone know why the switch light wouldnty be coming on but the fog lights work when i push the button? how can i check it.
Also have people found the best place to order the piaa yellow bulbs?
AND, what type of bulbs are they? they are h3's right? but whats the wattage and stuff?

Below is assuming you're working on an EG:
If the switch is like an OEM one, there are two bulbs in the switch. One for a back light, one for the indicator. Not to sound like an idiot, but have you verified that the bulbs aren't bad? Pull the switch out but leave it wired in. Pull the indicator bulb out and check it with a volt meter. It should read at least some voltage when the switch is on. If not, check your wiring. Does the switch have a backlight bulb in it? If so, check if it's functioning and if not, is it wiring or bulb.

yes sorry this is for an eg. well i havn't checked the bulbs your right. but the kit is brand new.. installed yesterday. Shouldnt the wiring be fine if it activates the fogs when it supposed to?

Well, being as that I haven't wired in fogs on my hatch yet, I can't personally attest to the wiring. From all the playing I've done, though, in the OEM switch, I believe there are two pretty much independent circuits. One hooks to your dimmer circuit, and is for the backlight. The other is the actual switch itself. I believe that when the circuit is open, it is also open to the indicator light. I think that when you throw the switch, it closes both sides of the circuit and lights up both the indicator and the foglights/rear defroster/cruise control (all use the same switch setup for the most part).
My bet is on the indicator bulb if the lights are working. Just pop it out and check for juice. Another option would be to just switch out and try your rear defroster or cruise control (if you've got it) switch in the circuit. With OEM switches, at least, they all use the same gang plug. It should throw the light on even tho the defrost switch is momentary contact, at least temporarily.
