limited number of valve jobs??
how do you know when a head has had too many valve jobs, or that another valve job wont make a difference? I no longer trust the local shops, and not sure if I should bother sending out my head if its not worth it.
its been milled a few times already, and had atleast 2 valve jobs as well as a custom valve seat replacement for one of the valves.

I guess it would come down to how much seat material is actually left, and whether or not the stock valve will still seat itself in the newly cut area.
Two possible solutions would seem to present themselves, new valve seats and/or slightly larger valves.
Sorry but that's the best I can do since I actually have no first hand on experience on the matter.

I was told originally that the seats cant be replaced because they are part of the head and dont have a separate part number. Len I think you told me that. Maybe I was mistaken. The shop that rebuilt my head was able to make a custom valve seat. It seems to work ok but my compression is erradic to say the least and Im not happy with it. Id like to see if its repairable, maybe with some new oversized valves, etc, but dont know if its worth it or to just get a new(er) head altogether.
I would really recommend contacting Brad at RLZ. He has many recommendations on this board, and I can tell you first hand that I have really enjoyed the two conversations I have had with him. If nothing else, I'm sure he can help get you started in the right direction. Goodluck.
thanks for the info. put the R back together today took it for a spin. beat on it a little bit, not too happy. seems to be spitting black on the rear bumper. dont think its a ring issue, only 10K miles on the bottom end. Ill have to do a leakdown and see what I get.
RLZ have a website? what other shops are recommended? Im aware of portflow, what else is there so I can shop around?

RLZ can do new seats for you.
so can DonF down in florida.
seats can be cut too much they suffer from flow quality, after too much has been removed. the valves end up being sunk down into the head too far..
good luck. search for RLZ name on here he is around
