Default D16y8 TB Upgrade

Well im shopping for a B series TB and I have been doing mass research. I still have a few questions to be answered as the search didnt help on this. I have a D16y8 with I/H/E and im looking for better response and airflow and I heard swapping TB was a good next step but I have to port my intake mani to match up. I know understand that the B series will bolt right up and I need a new gasket. Now to my next question is where to I relocate the MAP sensor or the IAVC which I cannot find any information about. Anything else could help thanks. Also Im upgrading exhaust soon but fabricating it my self and the question is do I head with 2.5" or 3" with a welded APEXi N1 universal(Got it for free) and for future plans I plan to be to turboed by the end of the summer. Thanks for the info guys.

im gonna do the same thing you are, but now im strapped for cash so i gotta do something else.

the d16y8 AEM CAI is a 2.25in intake, and the TB is 56mm. if you want an AEM CAI, drop the one you have now and bolt on a 99-00Si intake. the intake has a larger diameter.

as for the IACV, on y8, its located on the intake manifold, its a 2 wire setup.
the MAP sensor is on your donor TB, bolts right up
coolant lines bolt right up to your TB, or you can return the coolant away from the TB to increase power (colder air into your engine)
the TPS bolts right in too

get a GSR TB, its the easiest to bolt up. if my info is correct, you SHOULD get a odb2 TB for easiest bolt on

DONT FORGET TO PORT-MATCH and TB GASKET

How much power are you looking to make turbo?

If you plan on making descent power to start with and then more later on I'd go with a 3" setup.

Well im looking at running 7PSI boost daily and maybe 10 PSI on track days so more or less around 200WHP thats my goal.

For only 200whp 2.5" will be fine. I'm sure I'm making close, if not more, than 200whp on my D16Z6 turbo. Running 2.5" exhaust w/ gutted stock cat. I'm looking for a 2.5" high-flow, though.

If you do get an exhaust make sure you get a highflow cat too. The opening of the stock cat is only like 1.5"

Well I guess thats my question what Intake size would I use since the throttle body is now bigger and im pretty sure my AEM D16y8 Intake wont fit on the bigger throttle body.

Take your new throttle body to a hardware store and find a pipe coupler that fits it. I imagine a 2" or 2.5" flexible rubber pipe coupler would fit it.
