Default Getting more power out of the F20C

I just bought my 2001 S2000, and already I am ready to start modding it. I have had 3 turbo Hondas before this, I know I won't have the power with the S2K like I had before, but I love driving the car, and it is reliable, and that's what I want at this point. I really don't want to get into buying the waaaaay overpriced JDM parts, I want power and that's all, I don't care who makes it. Anyone have any suggestions where to begin?

If you want to redistribute power that you have, then go with modding the final drive. You may increase low end torque, but you'll sacrifice top end speed.

If you want to free up power from the motor without going FI, then to start off with go with a header, AEM EMS, and tuning. Intake and exhaust just won't give you the gains....regardless what people claim on H-T. You'll get immediate and momentary gain for the first few drive cycles, but the ECU will adjust itself to get back close to OEM parameters.

If you really want some more power with NA, go with ITBs, AEM EMS, and tuning.

From there, you may want to think about FI (S/C or turbo).

A.
Define the word faster.

Do you mean faster accelerating?
Do you mean faster in the turns?
Do you mean faster at slowing down?
Do you mean faster feeling?

B.
And no...you don't need to go FI to go faster. If you don't agree/understand, see "A."

A good I/H/E combo cost as much as a FI kit or more.

this is a bunch of crap

money doesn't always = power...

supercharger and turbo are nothing with out supporting mods...you have to start from the basics...each mod should compliment eachother. power is made when a car is well balanced and tuned properly. any moron can spend money on parts, it just doesn't mean they will work right.

A lot of dyno testing and race report has proven that by doing bolt ons and ECU tuning will dramatically improve the performance. FI is good but it will shorten the life of the engine and high cost in maintenance. Many ppl who've been FI went back to NA so there must be reasons behind it.

if its done right, thats totally un true.

i personally owned a boosted honda that had over 50,000 boosted miles on it before it got stolen, and it had perfect compression till the day it got stolen. if its built correctly, it will last a very very long time

high cost in maintenance? well it all depends on how you treat your car. if you drag race it all the time, you're going to go through clutches. if you drive it hard on the street, you'll go through gas and tires.

I have tuned a **** load of high horsepower setups, and you can bet almost every single one of them are still running today....

- I think lots of people can vouch for Mase's abilities, it is all in the tuning.
