Default New to Civics, Will be buying an SI soon, advice?

First off, I'm new, obviously. I am currently planning on buying a new 2006 Civic SI. I've gone and looked at them, have yet to test drive because the only dealership I found (I only got to look for a day.) that had any in stock, wasn't letting people test drive because they said they had too many 'joy riders' and they only let people who are planning on buying within the next week or whatever to drive them. I want to know from people who have actually purchased one, what you think of it, every aspect of it. The ride, the steering, handling, response, functionality of interior, electronics, space, comfort.... all of it.

I'd also like to know what you walked out of the dealership with (Price you paid out the door when you drove off.) and with what features. I'm trying to work over these dealerships so that I can get the most for my money.

The dealership I went to quoted me $23,500 out the door, all it had was trunk tray, wheel locks, and splash guards. No other options. It was habanero. I think he wanted too much, I told him that, and left.

I am looking to get one with the Nav, Summer tires, 18" wheels, Fogs, trunk tray, all weather mats, and proly wheel locks. In habanero.

Advice? Comments?

Ive had mine for 2 days now and i am LOVING IT!!! There isnt much on the car i dont like. I love the interior, body, handling (hugs corners), its quick as **** (to me... used to have a stock 90 crx), as far as prices man.... check out some other forums in this topic.... alot of people talk about how much they paid, got quoted etc... i paid 22588.95 (including taxes, doc fees, blah blah blah) for mine and its stock with wheel locks on stock 17's and regular floormats in Fiji Blue, keep in mind though that the demand in the market you are in will determine how much they are gonna mark one up, good luck getting one with Navi, tough to find, i was told i would be waiting til they showed up.... no ETA...

Just checked out honda.com and did a build and price on the car you want with the options.... 24267.00 so expect to pay a little more over if not alot more over for it. Keep us posted and good luck in your search man.

I plan on paying around 25-26k for mine. Like I said, the one I quoted a minute ago, had a 'market adjustment' of $2,000 that we got the manage to drop in about 5 mins... no real negotiations... i plan on getting what I want, at the price i want... dealerships are just as easily played as they play people.

I don't think the lip kit makes it look better. I don't want that on my car. I was told one dealer in So Cal is selling them for $20,540, which is basically msrp.

Check out the official price quote thread at the top of the page.

I definitely wouldn't pay $23,500 unless it had nav, though. That's a pretty significant markup over MSRP...and remember MSRP is usually where the negotiations START. I'd call around to other dealers for sure. If they're too far away, have them fax you something in writing and then show it to your local dealer and tell them to beat it, otherwise you'll just take the drive to the other one. A sale is a sale for them. They're making a lot of money regardless, and the Si isn't limited production...as in, they're not losing out by selling you one for an uninflated price, because they'll just replace it with another one on the lot that is also guaranteed to sell.

u guys do realize i got an 06 rsx type-s for 24,950 4 months ago. if you guys are paying this much for a civic si, i'd seriously rethink about buying the civic and look at getting the rsx type-s. the only downside to the dc5 is not having a LSD, but LSD can be obtained easily and at a really good price.

I'm sure that all the car magazine reviews would have given a pretty good idea of what the new Si is like. Which ones haven't you read yet?

I've read reviews, reviews are just that, a one time test drive with the expectancy of getting 'experience' from driving a vehicle and giving you their opinion. I want someone's opinion who OWNS the car, pays for it, its insurance, its gas, and whatever else, that drives it at least a few times a week, and can tell me what is, and isnt practical about it. What they might want to see changed in later models, you know... complaints and compliments for the car. Things for me to consider when buying.

i wouldn't pay a penny over msrp. anyway, on the same subject of buying.

bought my 06 dx with $941 off msrp & $495 in free stuff (trunk tray, mud flaps, etchings on all windows)

i hate dealing with salesman. you just gotta do your homework and stick to your guns.

All that I can say is, don't pay more than MSRP. If they try to charge you more than MSRP, tell them to go screw themselves, and find another dealer.

I don't have an SI, but I got an LX $500 under MSRP, plus free oil changes up to 30k miles.

No offense but I think the original poster is looking for feedback on performance, handling, and how you like your Si. This is turned into another "How much did you get yuor 06 For" thread.

Ok. Performance wise. I think it is great, I like to race and even if can't beat every car, it feels as if it can. The power delivers quick and sounds beautifully and it throws ME back into my seat everytime I step on the gas. I actually have to use caution to drive at normal speeds because the pedal is sensitive and the car will have me back in the seat AGAIN. It handles awesome, although I'm too much of a wuss to see how good. I've done about 50 or so around curves.
There is NOTHING I don't like about the car. In fact, I'm really considering whether i will make any modifications aside from foglights and retrofitted HIDs. Even the sound system is good enough for me.

I can honestly say I will hold on to this car as long as I can. I would trade it for no other car. When I graduate college and start a career and buy a house, the si will have a permanent space in the garage.

Oh, yea. I have Habanero Red and must say it's the best color of all.

Now that is my kinda guy right there, we could hang out and race the same car and still have a good time, same choice of color, and same idea... this car deserves a good home, and I plan on giving mine one. I do however, plan to mod mine once ALL warrantys are up. Someday whenever that may be. Probably not until I'm out of college and have some spare money. (That is, if I escape the need for student loans)

Even if the price of a 2006 Civic Si and 2006 RSX Type S was the same, its no question the SI is a better choice... LSD, Navi, same tranny, potent motor, etc.

statistics will speak for itself, Si is the best sports compact to get from honda over rsx.

even car magazines say the Si overall performs better, and has better suspension technology and the fixes that which the RSX do not have... something about cam shaft lobes that SI has which TSX has but RSX dont have.... etc.

I think someone went over this....

Find better prices guys...or just wait a while....

and do not buy a RSX.... its a piece of **** outdated car....
