My name is Aaron I own a 97 honda civic, my mom bought it for me about 2 months ago.
Im only 16 and so far have put a new engine in my self and done everything by my self, i know quite a bit but not all of it. Any help would be nice.

Ive moded it slightly new suspension and sport springs, 17" low profile wheels, AEM cold air intake, 2 way remote with keyless entry and remote start, kenwood cd head unit and infinty speakers with a kicker amp(I would of bought a Sony unit and speakers with amp, but all this was free from a friend at his job).

I need some help moding the engine for racing and would like it to make the sound like some of the cars in NFSUnderground2. When you shift makes a sound like a nos shot or something like that. what is that and what do you do to install it.

Also what would be a good recommendation for fixing up a 4 cylinder(thats what im running-vtec), anything that could make me a better racer. The main reason im doing this stuff is because I love cars and a guy discraces the Honda name and wants to race me for a grand, please help me show this fool how real Honda people do it.

granted I've never played NFS:U but I am guessing that's a blow off valve...and you need a blowoff when you have a turbo to let pressure escape if you close the throttle, so thats what the blowoff does...if you're interested in turboing, read up in the induction section of this board

you can't beat everybody, he might be running 10's you dont know

either way, get good at driving, take up some auto-x newbie courses, and get better at driving if you care about more than just driving in a straight line, and worry about putting down more power later

 

the guy that wants to race is using a 95 honda civic the only mod to his 4 cylinder is a cold air intake, and he's droped about 2000grand into the interior, like sparco seats(nice seats) and a crap walmart durabrand cd head unit, with speakers.
he gets a new paint job once a month, guess he gets bored.

wow... first of all i do not believe that you swapped out your engine... so your probably running a dx motor, d16y7, or a ex motor ,d16y8. both of these engines are SOHC- means single over head cam...

that "nos shot" you hear is a blow off valve. and to equipped your car with a blow off valve you need to boost your car also known as a turbo. i would not suggest boosting a single overhead cam engine just for the fact that you are goin to have to replace a few things. like pistons becuz they probably would melt if your engine isnt in super great condition. and then you would have to change your exhaust to maybe like a 2 1/2" piping and other **** to. so save up your money and swap with dual over head engine. and then you could turbo that. i would go with a b16a2. and for a turbo. go to http://www.cheapturbos.com.. AND PLEASE DONT RACE FOR A "G" BECUZ WITH YOUR KNOWLEDGE SO FAR, YOU PROBABLY DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO DRIVE. SO GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.

if you get it tuned properly you will be fine, if you lean the hell out of it, you are going to mess **** up

 

they will definetly melt since the kid doesnt know how to drive. and its not like he is gonna get recent tune ups all he wants to do is "race" for a "G"

but tuned, as in engine management

meh people learn by messing things up, not by things going right...sad to say but thats what I believe, and the stupidier someone is, the moer change they have at learning ... lol

and wen you boost your car you should be getting recent tune ups becus the pressure your putting on the cylinder walls and pistons is too great for them to handle. one tune up a year wont do it

 

ok after what you guys said, let me make something clear, my dad owns a Car customizing shop and he supervised me in swaping the engine, he said i do this and that and i learned a lot.
second off i have been driving a standard for 2 years, i learned to drive a car with a standard. So yes i know how to drive.

you guys also asked why he is discracing Honda, reason i say that is he has replaced 4 transmissions in the past 6 months on his Honda. Its a standard and he suchs at driving it.

Also last thing you said some things about racing for a grand, what the heck is the big deal with that. Im right now working at computer store customizing computers, and it took me about a year to find a job.
I live in a labor rich town that has 3 colleges in it. Now go figure.

That would be the sweet sound of turbo. That takes quite a bit of knowledge, time, and money to accomplish. Just read the posts in the Forced Induction Forum here and you'll learn. At this point, your not ready for this.

This guy you want to race only has CAI and blew his tranny 4 times and your worried that your gonna lose to him? Right now I guess you can start with the basics, i/h/e (intake/header/exhaust) and that should be enough to beat this "honda disgracer" guy. Now if you want some cheap power, dry shot nitrous.

Driver training and practice is the number one way to improve your lap times. I highly recommend a driver training course of some sort to give you proper instruction and seat time for high-performance driving, such as an Evolution Autocross school, a Skip Barber or Bondurant school, or even a NASA HPDE event.
