How do you like you JDM Recaros?
I'm getting a set of JDM reds for my ITR possibly tommorow, just wondering how u guys like em? and do they hold well? improvement over stock IYO?
i'd imagine they would be a better hold the the UDSMs. Its a street and track car and i need to be comfortable and i also need something to hold me a little better then usdm but not a full out race seat, i wouldnt mind the bling either.
lets hear it

then you have found the perfect seat.
in terms of differences between USDM seats, there is no comparison

the thing i love about jdm recaros is the quality and feel. the attention to detail, material and fit is above excellent. the non-oem srd seats, although the same in design, is still very different....atleast to me. even the oem rails and brackets are bulletproof compared to aftermarket ones.
only drawback is the wearing down of the bolsters. they are higher than your average seat which is why they hug you so well, race inspired afterall. if you're not conscious about your method of exiting and entering, the bolsters can wear-out rather quickly. other than that, i've already had 3 pairs and loved them all. that should tell you how much i LIKE them

They're great seats if you use your car often but still enjoy a spirited drive, autocross or HPDE once in a while. I went for a time with stock civic seats when I was going from some Brides to the Recaros, and the difference was disturbing. I hardly had any car control when making hard turns because I was focussing all my attention on not sliding around the entire car. Its amazing how much car feedback you can get from a well bolstered seat.
JDM Recaros =
... I'm on my second set.

They hold me in place much better than the USDM ITR seats, but I still find myself moving around on the track.
Also, this is with a four point harness, due to a weird requirement here in Japan.
I don't think anything but a narrow bucket seat will really hold me in place.

I just got my BLACK JDM recaros! (they were really hard to find! but i got them under 1k
) I love them, the best bucket seat I have ever seat in, since I'm skinny I fit in them great, be warned they can keep your "package" kinda tight between your legs, if you can't fit in them well

An aside for the other posters/readers in this thread, you may also want to think about S2000 seats in the ITR.
Last weekend, Josh (ITRsport.com) drove my Integra with the S2000 seats in them. He was pleasantly surprised on how the S2000 seats feel more at home in a DC than in an AP1.

I can see the size issue for a larger framed driver, however, on mine, I "gutted" an Integra seat. I then parted out the S2000 OEM seat.
Using the Integra rails and lower seat pan, I reassembled the S2000 seat. This allowed for a lower seating postion (unfortunately, it's raked at a decline). If I wanted to sit lower, there still is about another 1.5" - 2" of padding that can be removed, while leaving an 1" of padding for my bum.
In the S2000, the seat sits fairly upright and in the enclosed cabin, you may feel as if you're sitting much higher, but definitely give the seat a try in an Integra or a Civic that has an S2000 seat mounted local to you.

I'm not sure about in the EK however there is one of two ways to install S2000 seats into the DC.
1. Take the whole S2000 seat, bend the front eyelets downwards (near 90 degrees). Bolt one rail to the floor pan, slide the seat back and/or forward to line up the other seat rail. Duplicate for the second seat.
2. Using the seat pan (and seat rails) and the spring assembly from the Integra/Civic seat, bolt it onto the S2000 seat assembly (taking out the OE S2000 seat pan). The seat pans and spring assembly bolt right in to each other. Re-install the upholstery and now bolt the seat directly into your DC2.
The benefit of the second method is that the S2000 seat can fold forward a bit more with the Integra/Civic spring assembly than with the S2000 spring assembly. This allows for better access to the rear seats. I'm not 100% positive, but on the passenger side seat, folding the seat forward also allows for the "automatic" forward slide function as well.

Walker,
I'm not sure how much this will help you, but here are a couple of pics for reference on actual S2000 seat height in the Integra. Keep in mind that the passenger seat is in the upright postion (90 degrees to the seat bottom). The driver side is leaning back at a normal lean (not an over extended "gansta lean"....I'd guess it's about 110 degrees "open").

6'3" 235 lbs. Feels like it's crushing my hips together. Anything longer than 45 minute drive and I'd have to get out and walk around just to get feeling back in my legs.
But they do hold you in nicely.
