"You have to keep a good leather conditioner on it or it gets brittle and cracks...."
You can't fix a tear in leather. You can take it to an upholstry shop and have the panel replaced usually or they can recover the whole seat in new leather. I've gotten prices from $250 to $600 to cover a seat in new leather ( In my Legend). And keep a good quality leather conditioner on it to keep it soft and pliable. It dries out and hardens which is the main reason for cracking. Avoid farting on the seat excessively as this will also dry out the leather
